Marcus Aurelius' only posts were the day he signed up to the game, and he hasn't shown yet. Don't you guys think there's a reasonable chance he is going to remain AWOL and get modkilled? In which case torturing him has less immediate downside of wiping his powers or whatever, but also makes it kind of a waste.
If he remains totally inactive I'd rather lynch him today and torture someone else, if torturers we Achaeans be.

And Marcus Aurelius, if you are just catching up now, don't be freaked out by the long list of people suggesting hurting you. It's just because we don't know much about you yet. We're actually very nice, and if you start posting people will give you space and time to find your feet.
What do you think about the torture mechanic? Should we use it or save it?

It might also be useful if our victim is around to report on the experience.
If you know what I mean.

Kind of, but it also makes him a suitable test bunny for those hesitant to join the dark side.
Zak's crossposting a good point though.
Who do you suggest torturing, Gazglum?
I have to run.

Well, as I've kind of said before, I'm going to assume that the first use of torture won't alignment flip anybody. I think that would bee too broken, and its more liekyl to happen through overuse. I think it might wipe powers or put someone out of action for a day or something initially.
Mmmm...probably Brick. High post count, low content. Pro torture and anti name claim. He also jumped on Marcus as a test subject, even though Marcus seems the least likely to report on its effects and Brick previously said:

Brick is not usually a top nightkill target for scum (nor am I Brick!), so if he is cleared innocent then it spreads out their kill priorities too.
I could probably get behind strapping a honey-slathered Zak or Matt to an anthill as well.

Rowain covered it, but given there's apparently been some dispute about meaning, I should state the meaning I was using it in: "all gods" (of a particular faith / tribe / language group / etc) eg. Celtic pantheon, Norse pantheon, Greek pantheon.
Was more semi-joking confusion as to why Jkaen would proudly state that he was a member of a club that is exclusive to gods as a method of reinforcing his status as a hero lacking divinity. Hence the lack of a vote accompanying it.

Was going to switch to torturing MA, but he's beating out not torturing in the votes at the moment, so I'll leave my vote on myself in case people agree with the above point from zak.

No time at work to do anything else but switch my torture-vote to Mattimeo because the other person who has votes on him is likely to get mod-killed.

If I see it right there are currently no tie-break rules in place for lynch and torturing. What happens if 2 (or more or no -torture) have the same number of votes?

Just to be clear, I still don't like the idea of torture very much. I think it's a double edged sword and we should be very careful who we do it to, so that we don't turn someone alignment against us, or take out a power role, or something. I consented to using it on our unknown lurker because if he doesnt participate, he is going to likely be day 1 lynched or modkilled, and this would allow us to then gain some info about how it works without doing any significant harm, since MA is doomed if he doesnt show anyways.
Thinking over that now, the only info we would really get is the torturer read, if we dont actually hear anything back from the torturee.
Also, I don't mind a name claim, I was just pointing out to MJW that it would likely be fruitless at best. I'll claim if people want to, and can confirm i'm in the Greek mythological heros as well.

So are you still in favour of torturing Marcus, or not?
