WW40 - Game Thread

First up, apologies for lack of presence. Thought when signing up I'd have stuff sorted out by the time the game actually started, turns out I was not so good at that as I'd hoped. Will likely be inactive even by my standards for most of it. Sorry :/

I want to hear from Mattimeo most. Sorry for nagging if you're busy Matt.

My questions would be,

1. What is your hero name?
2. Why did you want to be tortured?
3. Could you explain a bit more clearly your post here:

Could be indicative of a flip to minion, but don't think he'd be as sure of target if he didn't know who scum were.
Novice's "hey we should lynch the person who could be potentially proven town with a seer-like claim" is also rather suspect.

Did you think Brick knew who the scum were, but was not scum?

2. As stated several times, town is boring and I want to see what happens.
3. Brick came out of torturing very sure of novice. As seen previously with the supposition of Tanner, I was looking for possible alignment alterations to explain such behaviour. Brought up minion - engaging in a successful 1v1 is double win for a minion, as it's 2 days without an actual scum being lynched - but ruled it out because of the confidence BRick had in going after novice, as a minion wouldn't know who the actual scum were (and thus would be unlikely to risk forcing a 1v1 in case they aimed badly).
So no. Didn't think he knew who the scum were without being one himself. Was using the fact that he seemed very confident about novice to bring options down to (BRick scum | novice scum) and rule out a flip to minion from the torture.

...also after responding to that I now see that you're dead. :'(

Btw Mattimeo wanted to be tortured so threatening him with a green vote will only make him laugh.

So could someone summarize the mattimeo vote, other than the fact that he was open to being tortured?

Incredibly lurky, generally suspicious, failed at joining the wagon on the seer known for the fact that no-one believe her, and yeah, really just incredibly lurky.

As far as I see it, torture will work one of three ways.

1. torturing gives a random side effect
2. torture will give a pre-programmed side effect depending on which hero/God it is used on
3. torture side effects ramp up to become more anti-town over time

As I've said, I think the third is most likely, but we can't be sure yet.

I was thinking a combination of 2 and 3, especially with believing BRick's claim, but not so sure of that now that he's been proven to be lying.
Thus, we should completely ignore the fact that 3 is the more likely situation in favour of further testing to determine if 2 is feasible ^_^

I'd also like to reiterate my amusement that the myth of Kassandra played out faithfully, with everyone not believing her claims (up to the point where Hades jumped out of her corpse, of course, but we can't have everything correct in these historical reenactments, can we?)

So we're going to torture Mattimeo, and then lynch him regardless of the outcome? Why bother torturing him, then?

As much as I hate to admit it, zak's got it correct here. If the fear if that I'm asking for being tortured because I'm a Godfather-equivalent, why scan me at all? Either you want to torture me to get a read, after which you really shouldn't lynch me, or you think I'm the Godfather and shouldn't waste a torture on me.
Unless those proposing the double-up are doing it deliberately, to increase the torture count without it being remotely useful?

Elaboration is not the same as making things up. At the time of voting BRick, you can't have been reasoning the way you now claim that you were reasoning.

To be fair, the only even half ass decent reason to see me as town is that I haven't done anything overly scummy.

What are the reasons to not see you as town?

I don't think there are really any reasons to see me as scum, though of course I am biased. I am anti-torture here, but I think I have made a logical case on that, and stayed with it consistently. Since I have no way of knowing more about the way additional tortures would work, I think my logic exonerates me to some point, as I am looking out for town. I voted for Brick, but after he was likely to die anyway, and even though I have tied him as a possible scum in a town/scum pair, that could simply have been hedging. Really, I've been very ineffective either way at this point. I just haven't had any insights into people's behavior that I could jump on. That of course could be seen as lurking, or playing passively to hide under the radar. This is going to get worse as time goes on, as there is pretty much no reason for scum to kill me, I'm just not currently dangerous to them, and the longer I live the more suspicious I'll look.

I don't think AdrienIer has what it takes to lie about keywords (see post #140 in case you don't know what I'm talking about) so he's probably villager. Gods have the power to kill of course but if my theory is right about Serdoa making the roles first and then having gods take over heroes bodies. This would also explain why brick would have access to the vanilla PM because Serdoa would just cut-and-paste that PM. Crap like this and my writing style being unfakeable is why I made the "cannot direct-quote the GM rule". With Brick dead and AdrienIer dead I'll probably vote to lynch mattimeo. I'd probably vote to torture someone else though or no-torture because he seemed eager to get tortured.

The way Jabbz explains who his character is makes me suspect it's a fake claim. Brick was also very keen on explaining his character background.

He means he doesn't think I'd be capable of saying that my PM says "you have no powers" just like BRick claimed if it weren't true. I also just noticed that quoting the PM is forbidden by the game rules, but BRick did it first and it played a role into my actions yesterday so I'm not as ashamed as I should be.

If people really insist I'll tell you my name, but I have a possibility in mind around it that I don't like and I'd rather the gods didn't know about it either.
