I got it to work--you have to use the embed url (or at least now you do; I never used it before and it might have changed with the redesign).

Note for future that here is probably a better place to ask.

Can anyone else see the videos embedded at this post?

They're not playing for me, I don't know why.

Those have the same problem I just fixed--look at my post for the right way to embed stuff.

Here's the way I've been doing it:

Quote the post to see the code. (using it even inside a code tag counts as 2 videos, and only 1 is allowed)

Here's what you need to put between the embed tags:

Click the share button, select the embed code, and copy the part between the quotes.

You can also get the embed URL just by changing "watch" to "embed" in the regular youtube URL.

Other forums that support Youtube embedding are smart enough to accept the regular URL and internally convert it to /embed/ . I didn't think to try anything like that when I first implemented the embed tag here, and now changing it would break previous usages. So that's what we've got.

How would that break previous usages? If you specifically just did a find/replace of watch->embed in the embed tag only, the only usages that would change would be the ones that already didn't work, right?

That's really unfortunate. I thought it was some screwy custom implementation, and I was right. How is anyone supposed to figure out how to do it correctly? Is it documented anywhere? I would never in a million years have guessed to try manually editing the URL to add /embed/. I wish this could be fixed.
