level bonus

when i view the level bonus table, the tweaker mods the wizards.exe. but nothing more. it doesn't show, or let me edit the level boni. and the modding information concerning lvl boni is not valid for the modded .exe.

could you give us more information on how to mod them after the tweaker did? or fix it? =)

thx,

I have just checked Insecticide 1.40n and Tweaker 0.2.8 in Windows 7.
From where I'm sitting everything looks fine.
When I select the Level Bonus Table, I get the proper boni.
If I change for instance the melee bonus of a unit I can see in the game, it instantly changes in the game as well.
That is, I only have to close and reopen the unit details in the game to see the changes.

Can you be more specific?

For reference, the code change I made, starts at offset 8f881 in wizards.exe with 0x55, 0x8B, 0xEC.

The check I'm making to see if it is installed, is to check if offset 8f8e8 contains 0xE9, 0x84, 0x00.
If it doesn't, the Tweaker will propose to install the code change that allows level boni to be edited.
As a possible fix, suppose you change that 0x00 into 0x01, then the Tweaker will want to reinstall the code change, which just might fix your issue.

i use insecticide 1.40m. win7. tweaker 0.2.8 (2013-12-30)

8F881 in my wizards.exe: 55 8B EC
8F8E8 in my wizards.exe: E9 84 00 changing 00 to 01

load exe in tweaker. yes it tells me level bonus code is not installed. install it now? yes. successfully installed level bonus code. but the table is empty. nothing shown at all.

does it only work with 1.40n?

ok i found the problem. it only works if you're connected to a game.

Ah!
Just checked, and it turns out that indeed I didn't make it work for a save game, while it could.

i just wanted to change it in the wizards.exe. no need to have a game running for that, is there? i usually use the tweaker "offline" (not connected to a game)

True, although you still have to explain to the Tweaker "where" the game directory is, either by connecting to a game, or by loading a save game.
Still, it was an oversight of mine that it doesn't work (yet) when you load a save game.
And for modding I actually recommend loading a save game, since then you can be sure any changes you make will be permanent.
If you tweak a connected game, the effect will often be gone when reloading, since if possible the change is only made in memory.

since i have my files in a separate folder, i usually load a wizards.exe (may even have a different name) from there. then copy it over to a game folder for testing.

I'll make it work in that case as well.
