Lurker question:
I proposed peace to Auro on T100, and he accepted that same turn. Who can attack whom first and on what turn?

I think whoever is first in turn order(sounds like you) can attack first.

Ok, see, that's what I thought too! I'm glad I super nervously and cautiously played the turn before you answered, because it turns out we were wrong, as you'll see in a minute.
But first things first. Occasionally I get things right. Like when I wish I didn't.

Our galleys danced around a bit - circumnavigation is huge for him! I keep hoping he'll stop 1 tile out of reach of my galley and the drowns will be able to get him. anyways, we're still dancing.
Ok TBS, here's where things get weird. First, on my T109 I see that I can't declare war.
and then he takes the first strike on his T109!
I went back and checked, and I proposed peace on T100, and received confirmation on T101. So for some reason, I had peace enforced on me for T101-109 (9 turns + the turn I proposed peace), and he had it enforced on him T101-108 (8 turns + the turn he accepted T100). That doesn't seem right. Does anyone know what's going on here?
Not that it really matters. I made sure to have a good garrison in all the cities he could reach, so all he did was pillage my clams. But he's pumping out galleys in the North and South, so there's no way for me to garrison everywhere. Judging from what I've seen of his army, he shouldn't be able to have much on the boats right now, and siege can't attack amphibiously (I hope I'm right here! Lurkers, please back me up!). So the big problem is that he can just send his stack down my throat, and I can't stop him. I'm pumping warriors, but I don't have enough numbers to attack out (he's got a LOT of promos), and sitting still against trebs is worse. I've got a GP coming from my border city in 4 more turns which is going into a GA to power through necro & writing so I can bulb sorcery (got a sage on ice for it - won't be enough to get all the way, but will help a lot). So I just have to hold the line for 4 more turns. If that city gets razed, I'm pretty much done for.
Of course, I'm pretty much done for anyways. Just keep stretching for mages, and hope he gets distracted by someone else!

yeah, not that it matters. I really didn't expect him to be able to attack amphibiously with no losses.
OO holy city (Muskrat 3000) is next

It lives! Looks like maybe DaveV is taking some of his attention...? Or maybe his marines needed more healing after winning a bunch of low odds battles against me. :grrr: sacrificed a warrior to kill the griffon on T113 to take away his scouting.
I really, REALLY hope he's got a bunch of bloodpets/moroi ready to upgrade to vampires...but I don't think he's reached feudalism yet! i can't see what he can research yet, which I think means he doesn't have trade (Auro does have trade and is the only one who I can see anything for techs on).
oh well, guess I have to rely on Dave to the rescue!
or not.
oh dear. Dreylin better use up that GM quick, or it's just gonna disappear...
it's about to get real lonely in the fight against the dwarves, but I'm still trying. [url=http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0882.html
]Father of the Year Plaque[/url] FWIW.
Finally popped my GS on T114, and immediately started a GA. Necromancy finished EOT, so I'll have rust ready next turn. Skellies the turn after. Don't really have enough adepts yet to build the bone wall. writing is 3 turns at breakeven in the GA, then sorcery is probably another 8-9 after that (with a GS to bulb half of it). not sure I'll get there. if there's one thing Auro does well, it's wield the hammer. (that, and build a bigger hammer than everyone elses)

and he took it! yay, now I can build up my military, this is great! ....uh, sorry Dreylin.
...
wow, that was stupid of me. I think our only chance was to team up, and i left dreylin hanging. Auro was able to completely strip our border to go after the vamps.
Well I don't know how much difference it would have made to the end result, but I'm sure it speeded things up, so, umm, thanks for that!

Long way. Was about to start the beeline(ish) when Auror attacked and that derailed the whole thing.

wow, I just realized that I haven't been updating here at all. i could have sworn I wrote about losing my border city....maybe I exited the tab before posting...? Hopefully Auro is keeping you all informed!
Well, I've still got the images on imgur, so here's what you missed:
Big stack comes.
run away!
Prepare to get razed.
get razed.
try to make sure it doesn't happen to the capital.
Dave lost a city, and Vent lost his #2 city. I popped my WS to keep him from using haste.
Fast forward to the present:
T121
No cities razed around the world, so that's good.
I sent a sacrificial warrior out to cut the road on the hill. that looks like a containment stack: he must be focusing on finishing off Dave and Vent first. Not sure what I can do to help them. Until I get mages, I have no hope of offensive warfare.
He is building up his navy, and I can't compete. Until fireballs (and not really even then).
One thing I CAN do is send some galleys poking around his borders, force him to garrison at least.
6 more turns to the GS which will finish bulbing sorcery, by which time I might be all alone. Dave and Vent have gifted me all their mana (well, I asked and they said yes). I'm gifting copper to Dave.

4 turns to sorcery. unfortunately, now that I'm out of my golden age, I lose a ton of gold at 0% slider. so it's looking unlikely that I'll be able to upgrade any mages! my huge pile of warriors costs too much. Thankfully, auro is on his way to reduce my expenses. I'm hoping that military state can help with that too.
that naval stack is also making me nervous, but I'm starting to think it's just a decoy. otherwise, he'd probably be whittling down my stack (last time he had an amphibious attack he suffered no losses), even if he didn't have the numbers to take me down.
I'll have slow next turn, which should reduce the pace at which he flies through my lands.
IMPORTANT QUESTION: how long does arcane lacuna last? I'm pretty sure I popped it on T117, so I should get a couple more turns before he can haste through my territory, right?
