Awesome. Thanks. Not that anything is actually going to happen - I'd be pretty shocked if there isn't an archer there in 6 turns, in which case I'll just turn around and let it be.

Turn 62, In Which AT Decides To Not Attack A City

Cause a protective archer says to stay away.

And there is a barb city. I have 1 advantage over people and it's that I out expand them, and now 2 of my neighbors have free cities in their backline. I doubt I can get there in time to even burn the damn thing so barteq can't use it. Crap.

Molach's is size 2 already, so I presume an axe is on it's way.

dtay comes to cut off northern expansion - presumably, he'll either plant in place or kill the barb and plant there. I didn't really think I'd get spots up there, but it does kind of suck.

Demos.

Depressing turn, really. barteq made a play that's going to work out, though I still think it was a bad play. He was lucky I didn't have a chariot or axe ready for him.

I've been thinking some. Since barteq's strategy is clearly to cut me off, I think I may increase my pace of settling the south and spam settlers without as much worker support as I'd like, to claim the land. Adrien seems to be screwing around, so I might be able to claim extra land from him.

Turn 63, In Which AT Stops His Pity Party, Cause It's A Game, After All. Dammit

Start with demos. This is taken at 0% science.

With no multipliers and a total of 5 culture (1 monument, 1 palace, a lib)

This is 100% science (I left the turn at 0%, pulling in more gold for IW)

One of those ahead of me is Molach, who is financial and has probably hooked up multiple gold, plus is creative, so probably has a lib up, plus the extra culture. One of the others is, presumably, HAK, with his 2 wonder/holy city cap. I presume that dtay is up there, with 14 culture from stonehenge alone (he planted, so 15 now).

I'm doing ok on the science front - maybe enough for me to push cities harders.

I did some math on unboiled egg and the rax. My choices were to work the hill or the oasis. The hill gets me to 30 hammers when I grow to size 3, which is a 1 pop whip, which was 5 turns after I grew to size 2. I would have to grow to size 3 to 2 pop whip the rax, which would have taken 4 extra turns. So, single whip it is...

I did whip in a chariot in Urination Time - that barb is still there and there's a vulture around, so I figure a chariot is a good plan about now.

Looking at the power graph, I think most of Barteq's power is archers and tech (which, to be true, can be said of me, too wink

Also, looking at this screen shot, where I see 2 archers, both with a promo

My settling plans are below:

that's a lot of settlers.

I have one in 3 turns in the cap and one in 9 turns up north. That was going to go north of UT, but I think it may go south.

The main issues are protection and worker support. Huh? is going to focus on workers for awhile, while the settlers come out of the cap and helper cities.

Let's take a closer look at that settling plan:

Realistically, I can't get all those sites, presuming barteq continues settling into me.

I can get 1, 2 and 6 easily and at least 1 or 2 of the others. If I can get 4, then I should be able to get 3 and 5, but getting (and holding) 4 is tough. It needs at least an archer and worker support to chop in walls, plus support for the worker to improve anything to the east or south. 4 is actually closer to his cap than his plant is to mine, but the equivalent is that mountain and that's the only spot with decent food.

the spot for 2 is just my placeholder - I think it will go either 1 or 2 W of that spot, possibly W-SW. W-SW is nice because it makes for better support of 4.

3 might go 2 E

Turn 64, In Which AT Finds That Molach Has Masonry

Domestically - Huh? got a worker from a chop. That overflows into an archer which will be built as it grows->worker. That worker will move south to support the cities.

BF switches to an archer for a turn, then will whip a settler. That, combined with a chop, will give me a settler and then a worker in fast order. The settler will settle site #1.

The worker that was chopping there is going to road the copper and then mine it when the settler gets there. The new city will work the PH and build a settler, switching to the copper soon.

UT is growing to max size, then will switch to a settler. Allergy Kiss will finish it's settler, take over the sheep and grow a granary, eventually to grow cottages in the cap.

Whale Breath will finish granary->Moai, which will take 8 or 9 turns.

Molach is having a fantastic game

he's ahead of me in gnp, power and MFG good. I'm beating him in crop yield and cities, but I'd rather have his civ than mine right now. btw - I suspect he moved his cap inland. There is a fish north of my scout, and that looks similar-ish to my start (wet corn vs wet wheat, but). Not sure why he would move, but I think he did.

He has great land - 4 wet corn and 3 gold, lots of river grass...

About 5 turns from getting his barb city - the gallic will rip those barbs apart - might kill all three without taking a hit. Something iike the equivalent of 7.25 on 2. I think

How do I know he has masonry? Well, I can see the walls around late 2nd city, plus of course the GW has G2.

north:

Nice. gonna send the warrior to find ichabod, which will scare dtay a bit, but he'll just cover the worker. I'll flash my chariot at him - he knows I have horse.

Archer to his city, so it lives.

I've been thinking and I think I'm not going to sell out for those sites - I'm going to continue to expand normally. that's still an emphasis on the south, of course, since I've emphasized the north (because of the whales and dtay)

That means that the Allergy Kiss settler is going to go north of Urination Time, as was planned, so as to open up a grab for the corn and also to get the silver up there. Cap is still going to go settler->worker->settler and we'll settle relatively aggressively, but I'm not going to sell out for spot 4, which would be expensive (no trade route) and hard to support. It's a fine site and I still want it if I can get it, but I'm ok taking it with keshik's...

Turn 65, In Which AT Gives An Overview Of His Civ

My empire:

That's post whip. I get a settler next turn and another in 6 turns.

Pretty happy with those demos. I'd prefer to be further out front, with good expansion traits, but I'm in about the place I should be.

Workers are an issue - I'm only now getting some tile sharing in, which will help the worker issue, but a couple of near term cities will not be able to share food.

The building total will go up significantly soon - more granaries, a lighthouse, a barracks or two, Moai.

I have all first level techs.

This is interesting. Apparently, in Krill mod, all melee units can take guerilla promotions. It makes support axes and spears for the keshiks more mobile.

Dunno - I'd guess that celtic units can, since the Dun gives a G2 promo.

edit -I appear to be wrong. I tried making an axe in my sim and G2 wasn't available - just CR1, C1 and WI, as normal.
