[Spoilers] Dreylin plays a Beeri builder

So DaveV's at war with Bob; unfortunately I'm not in a position to help out right now.

I do have this guy though, so Warfare is high on the research list:

I also took a map trade with plako:

he's reached in one direction and DaveV's taken advantage of it. We have OB, but no connection yet so I'm going to go ahead and build a road in his territory.

I think that we can be friends from here; he has enough to deal with and I have plans too:

These should have been Illian lands, but soon they will be mine! Muahahahahaha.

Ahem. Anyway, with GK and a bunch of Engineers in Lever I can very quickly churn out Settlers for this area.

Oooo, map trade gave me circumnav! Sweet.

DaveV and Bob at Peace, so I'd better watch out...

duhbangheadduh And I promised myself that I wouldn't get caught out by sea yet again.shakehead

Poor timing on the Barb incursion as well; I can't cross the river to clear them out since then I couldn't get back into the city, and I can't afford to attack across the river at poor odds and risk losing the defenders. I've just got to pack as many units as I can in and hope that it deters him from an attack:

Yep, I'm packing the Mud Golems in as well since they can absorb a hit:

Lever has more than enough units plus the support of the Wall of Stone.

I also switched research to HBR, I'll need Sailing to clear out the threat of the Galley, but I expect his land stack to wander across the plains soon enough and I'll need to be able to reposition units faster than I currently can in order to fight that off as well.

DaveV retreated:

Don't know how far he's gone, so I'll need to keep an eye out and the cities filled. It may have just been an exploring Galley - probably went through Bob's land with the war dec. He had to have retreated back the way he came, otherwise he'd still be in sight.

Note his GA; I may have to spend my first GE on one as well just to stand a chance of keeping up in research. I've also switched back to Sailing, since a couple of v12 Triremes will be able to hold off a vague Galley probe. I also have to rethink the Northern expansion, since that Barb city ruins the dotmap.

GA, Sailing, Lighthouse, GLH, second GE, build Forges?

DaveV took the Peace offer.

I used the GE to kick off a GA and intend to push through Sailing, HBR & Trade before it ends.

A 2t Settler from Lever? Don't mind if I do!

Next GP will come in 5t and will give me 4t to get the Forges down.

Hmm, maybe Peace with DaveV was a bad idea; he's eating plako. Sorry friend. alright

New city will plant next turn, and I'm shaping up to take out the Barb city in the NE (burn). Ships are starting to sail and I'm working on a really really good Lighthouse to juice up my economy.

OTOH, this was a bit of a wrench in my works:

Thanks, Shrine of the Champion! rolleye I guess I need to work out how my plan needs to change to accommodate this.... duh

I had forgotten that Trade requires Writing, so I'm not getting that before the end of the GA. So reasearch has shifted to Cartography for the CS switch, and then I'll pick up Philosophy to see how much of CoS I'd get out of the Prophet and therefore whether the rest would be worth it.

Also, Philo lets me take a stab at Bone Palace - which I'll supplement with a new island city planted for Marble. Settler and Galley in the works and the WB will be soon as well. Heading SW (AKA away from DaveV). DaveV has Marble already though, so there's a good chance he's going to finish it soon. frown

So I built this:

And there's this too:

Since he's not gone down that line yet I'm pretty confident now that I can get the Bone Palace. So I'm going to keep GK on to accelerate that and keep churning out troops in the meantime. Expenses are pretty high, but I'm not going to put down many cities in the interim, so costs won't explode.

Of course the slow realisation that him having trade means he's 1 tech away from Vampires could/should be kind of worrying....

First useful event for a while:

Saving 1gpt will pay itself back soon enough.

Got the Engineer this time:

Nice quick build on the 'Palace there and we'll start researching again. Probably Writing-Trade first and then Smelting, saving the GE for Iron Working. If the next GP pops an Engineer I can double-bulb, otherwise a third GA will be in order to research it.

I'm staying even with DaveV on Power, but he has twice the cities I do so long-term it's not looking great with Vamps on the horizon.

plako asked for my spare Crabs this turn, which I sent him. I then asked Bob for his spare Wheat and Rice - offered Ale in return even though he has his own Deruptus to ensure he knew why I'm asking. I've come to realise that I only have Corn in my area, while everyone else has the full set of grains available. frown It's my only map gripe though! neenerneener
