Thanks! ok, great, so I've got a little time then to get dispel before he can blind my stacks and haste his own.

So I've been taking pictures, but due to a severe depression with this game I haven't been updating. But here's something:

7-move galley from waaaay out in the fog. also lost my iceball city (that's fine, already got a bunch of ice 1 adepts).

Yeah, better not show anything more like that or I'll stop reporting entirely. Auro's moving in - while one stack is mopping up my western holdings (not pictured), THE BIG ONE is coming straight for my capital...again. maybe he comes all the way this time...? He's got an assassin and like 4-5 trebs a tile behind on the plains hill. I'm glad I scorched the earth over there.

EOT, sage for the rest of sorcery pops. Academic question: if you could upgrade only 1 mage, what would you give him? choices: fire, water, nature, body, death, entropy, shadow, sun, spirit, mind, ice, meta. and if you could do 2 mages, what do you do?

upgrading a couple sun mages is very tempting to try to stop his stacks long enough for me to hit them, although each unit has 50% chance to resist. Unfortunately, his stack is stronger and better promoted than mine (and he's got more on the way). fire for a bit of collateral is tempting, although I don't think it'd do all that much (wish I had air!). for plain old summons, I think probably pit beast > spectre for 2 reasons: dwarves' magic resist gives them 20% against death damage, and if I get incredibly lucky and win with the beast it'll stick around. also, when arcane lacuna wears off I'll need dispel to counter his blinding light

feed him bloodpets and hope for rescue from those weird dudes mumbling in the corner...?

Auro made my decision easy by backing off for a turn. so, fire it is, to try to slow down his navy. killed his trireme there, the galley's at like 2 health. should make him cautious about moving boats into range of my shores.

he emptied belt of giant strength, so I retook it. he's probably hoping that'll distract me from the main thrust coming soon.

speaking of which....NW of bear den

N of bear den

that's a lot of units. Still, every turn delay is a turn for more mages. losing money at 0%, so it's pillage gold that's providing the cash for upgrades.

Yeah you guys are heroes, gallantly declaring Peace at the first opportunity so I could get eaten quickly. Argh

Also, I had kind-of intended to reference our duel, but you probably realised that.

well, I am a big fan of fireballs due to the collateral aspect of it, plus the ability to cross water and peaks. I'm afraid in this case I can't rely on my opponent twiddling his thumbs for a dozen turns to let me get critical mass on mages... wink still, with how Auro's being such a tease attacking my core you just never know.

Another turn, another city lost. a couple of my pillagers also bit the dust, but I still managed to pillage enough to upgrade 3 more mages.

I've got a stack out challenging the area. Hopefully he'll leave his stack where I can hit it.

eastern front - somehow he's still finding time to build more settlers. bang note that his ships have back off from trying to blockade. for now. he's got privateers in the waters, which'll take a LOT of fireballs to bring down.

He's backed off in the west, letting me get some pillage gold. I don't dare get too close though with all those chariots.

blockades have been happening for a couple turns, but EOT 131 he finally managed to cut all my trade with Dave and Ventessel (i.e. Dave no longer gets my spare copper, and I no longer get 6 extra mana's). so adepts no longer start with enough XP to upgrade immediately. frown

he's moving in with some galleys. Unfortunately I could only hit him with 2 fireballs. I'm moving my western force back to the core just in case he lands a significant force.

this game's over (has been for a long time). If he just moved in from both sides with the stacks he's shown, Auro could easily overrun my defenses. turns don't take much time now, so I don't mind playing out the string.

The 10t peace you offered me was something you definitely shouldn't have done. At that point I was a bit worried that you'd come after me at the same time I was at war with Dreylin. The peace allowed me to focus 100% on Dreylin. I don't know how much I would've left behind if it had been just ceasefire, but for sure it'd have made attacking Dreylin harder&slower. So all in all, you helped me there quite a bit!
