I seen from were you belived i want MOM in capitol, from the sign i wrote that so we chop the forest on silk as we get market faster and with calendar we will get 3 happines, and can improve that tile which will became a very good one.
I put wealth in lapua so we will use overflow for an archer next turn

Ok, mack and I chatted a bit yesterday and though we agree on a lot there are also some differences in how for instance mackoti is more concerned about chopping granaries and building a strong economy now, while I generally freak out a bit more (probably too much) about claiming the last available land next to us (peacefully). Might do a more proper report of the latest activity yet, but it'll have to wait a while still at least.

One thing I asked, but never got an answer to is if you still want to plant city 4 with gold first ring?
I presume you do, but since 1S would make the city much better I thought I'd still ask before moving the settler.
Since I don't think REM has any monuments yet I think I personally would prefer 1S, but it does delay the happiness a bit and I'll go with whatever you want here.

Ok, will do if ever they get Ichabods units saved.
Don't mind the reload though. I agree with the assessment that he shouldn't be severely punished for a misclick by a lurker playing a turn (your own misclicks you should generally take the consequences for, but for instance losing the first settler you've built to a misclick and barbarian unit could make exceptions).
It's also in my self interest that they get this worked out as Ichabod and Dtay are in a turn split (presumably neighbours) and I hope to have as many strong powers next to Dtay as possible.

t72-76, some tidbits:

t73 the city of Svartholm was founded near Serdoa.
While Serdoa backed up a bit to settle his own city we moved up an axe and a chariot showing off our military might crazyeye
For fun I had named the axe company "BGNs Bold Bears". Surely a unit with such a remarkable name can't ever lose a fight?
Well, Serdoa decided to let name his own units in response:

This made me chuckle. And then I immediately renamed the chariot "Jowys happy hippos". Sadly we had moved back the units into the city by then so Serdoa won't have seen it yet, but perhaps I'll get a reason to move up a worker sometime soon??
I hope that no one think this is crossing the line. We're not really supposed to communicate via unit names, but I just see this as some banter to enhance the gaming experience.

Fintourist has been exploring near Donovan Zoi.
I've forgotten to take a better screenshot, but I think you might start to guess the most important news from this picture:

Turns out that the water by Serdoa wasn't a long bay, but instead a saltwater lake and DZ and Noble Serdoa have touching borders in the south.
There's also a spot down south with stone and double gems that Donovan hasn't settled yet. If it wasn't for the fact that it lacks food (unless stealing a source or two from already built DZ cities) I'd be sorely tempted to throw caution aside and settle it myself. If for nothing else then to deny it from Serdoa. It really is inside what should be DZs zone of interest, but I'm not sure he'll get there first...

t76 was the turn we settled our 9th city. In the end the decision on where to settle came down to me getting to the turn last out of everyone and feeling stressed about the decision. Mackoti hadn't commented the last illustrations here and I hadn't been convinced earlier that his version was better and so Nummijärvi was settled:

It might be that that wasn't the biggest smoke of the turn though.
One thing that might've influenced my decision is that REM sent a warrior-scout down in the north. In itself it's not dangerous, but for some reason I freaked out and thought he would try to claim the gold city before we made it there.
So,
I whipped
Lapua from size 4-3 to finish the settler 1t earlier. That's the second time I've whipped off the Bronze mine for at least a turn in that city bang.
According to the mayor in Lapua the harsh use of the whip is due to citizens being to lazy to improve the countryside in a timely matter, but you know, I'm not sure many people are buying it wink .

I don't think that sort of unit naming is an issue, just keep it casual

A couple of questions to mack:

I saw that you started Jutas on an archer. Is it foolish of me to hope that you're just using it as a means to grow and will then 2-pop whip the settler? rolleye

What's the idea behind the work boat in Pyhäjoki? We're still a long way off alphabet, we have DZs borders in the south and REMs borders in the north blocking our way and it might still be a little bit early to build anything for the second-ring fish in our not-yet-founded city north of the capital. Are you expecting to declare on Donovan (I guess we'll do that eventually anyway) and hope he doesn't mind or get suspicious about a non-combat unit crossing his path?

Finally the big one. MoM. I think a plan soon might be in order or we could easily lose a turn or three on the completion date.
8 forests make us 2 short of being able to straight out chop out the wonder. So we need some production, but that the city is only founded last turn and needs time to grow complicates things more than I anticipated at first.

To be able to start comparing alternatives I made an assumption that we would finish calendar + masonry on t89 (trying it now in game at slightly higher than break even research we'd get it at t90).
- well I thought I did, turns out I counted on getting masonry t88 in first granary-version. Still indicative of a timeline though.

Chopping 1 forest into a granary I got this table:
t77 size 1: 4/22f 2/60h granary
t78 7/22f 6/60h
t79 10/22f 10/60h chop finishes.
t80 13/22f 44/60h
t81 16/22f 48/60h
t82 19/22f 51/60h
t83 size 2 0/24f 54/60h steals wheat from Jutas as second tile
t84 5/24f 59/60h granary finishes starts archer
t85 10/24f 4/25h
t86 15/24f 9/25h
t87 20/24f 14/25h
t88 size 3 13/26f 19/25 archer, first chops come in and swap to MoM working iron (chopped + mined this turn) +horse+cows
t89 15/26f 12/90 MoM
t90 17/26f 24/90 MoM
t91 19/26f 36/90 MoM
t92 21/26f 48/90 MoM swap to archer and whip (working both wheats)
t93 size 3 18/26f 78/90 MoM -> MoM finish at end of turn at 450/450h BUT doesn’t take into account if lose a single hammer from getting +50% for marble. (But I didn’t straight whip into MoM either)

What's noticable is that the granary doesn't help at all with getting MoM built quickly, it only takes away one forest. (It does help with growing the city right afterwards though).

Considering how good a wonder MoM is I then tried a more extreme variant where I sacrifice more of the development in Nummijärvi in order to speed up the wonder:
t77 size 1: 4/22f 2/60h granary Switch to archer build
t78 7/22f 3/25h archer
t79 10/22f 6/25h archer Steal wheat from Jutas
t80 14/22f 8/25h archer
t81 18/22f 10/25h archer
t82 size 2: 0/24f 12/25h archer wheat + cows
t83 5/24f 17/25h archer
t84 10/24f 22/25h archer swap from archer to chariot
t85 15/24f 5/30h chariot
t86 20/24f 10/30h chariot
t87 size 3: 1/26f 15/30h chariot wheat + cows + horses
t88 5/26f 24/30h chariot, whip off wheat (62/30 chariot)
t89 size 2: 7/24f 30h overflow into MoM
t90 9/24f 38/60 into MoM, switch to archer and whip off horses (51/25 archer)
t91 size 1: 9/22f 64/60 MoM. work whatever fits best to get a granary up sometime soon… MoM finish eot.

So that is at least two turns quicker to finish the wonder! (and with more room to allow for any mistakes in my calculations). It's also in my opinion the fastest we could build the wonder after getting the techs. We should be able to pre-chop and road enough for 4 workers to chop the forests in 3t, but getting 8 workers in the same area seems very messy in my opinion (and yeah, doesn't really help anyways).

If someone else gets MoM before we've finished the wonder then I definitely think we should get a granary asap, but I'm fine with delaying the development of the city if it means a much better shot at the wonder.
You said yourself that MoM usually falls t95-100. Considering that starting techs have gotten cheaper recently and that this is a very lush map I'd say that a "normal" completion date should be slightly earlier, say t90-95? In other words right in the period that our wonder might go up...
The risk that someone is really beelining the wonder might be lower due to small amounts of calendar resources for everyone, but if so they should of course beat us easily and might build it closer to t80...

yeah i want city to grow and just after to slow build or whip the setler as i said we already got that area how you got planted the city so no big hurry. We can whip it if we consider necesary.

Thecity will grow unhapy in so it was beteween a worker and a worboat , becasue will need a workboat i chosed one to have it ready for that time, we can switch to a worker and when we can grow to switch to something else.

About MOM , nice to see you done some planning i will try myself something to see if i can do a beter date with granary, if not will go with your variant.
You right granary just delays the wonder becasue the food is not very good here(ha ha) so i think we should go with the plan without the granary so we can get the wonder faster.

Switched this to a worker figuring we'll still have plenty of time for the workboat. Otherwise I don't think I've changed anything from what you did.

(I believe that my thought originally was that we would plant "city 5" very quickly after Nummijärvi. N. would then be able to grow on city 5s wheat while city 5 used the horses for granary hammers... Haven't tried if something like that could speed up the wonder though.)
I should probably stress that t89 for masonry is a rough estimation. I haven't calculated this, so the perfect MoM-execution might involve something where things like gems, gold(?) and/or wealth builds gets us the techs on t88 for instance. (Or it might be that those things are not enough to speed up eta from t90->89?).
I left Nummijärvi building a granary this turn still. In the plan I posted above, one more turn shouldn't matter, while for a granary first alternative I guess those 3h might still make a difference. Next turn I believe we should switch to archer though unless you've found a good plan by then.

We're short on improvements in Revolahti/Pulkkila. When I whipped Lapua the plan was to grow back this or last turn by taking back the wheat. Don't really feel like doing that though when the best tile Revolahti can work instead is a lake. I had thought we'd send the worker that went to silks to the already started cottage, but now it seems future improvements might take a while longer. Similarily I had expected the worker that went to the forest by Alavo to speed up Pulkkilas gems by 2t. Anyway, how to move forward? Whipping Revolahti would be a fairly simple solution, but considering how slowly it grows I'm not too keen on that idea. Perhaps 2-pop whip the library i Pulkkila (think we should grow back before gems are ready)? That way at least our new city can steal the oasis and the shared cottage can stay firmly in Revolahti.

Btw. How do you want to set up the gold city? Cottages or farms on the floodplains?

I think we can get easy at end of turn 88 both masonery and calendar as our research power will grow alot and we can build wealth here and there so we can get some cash.

we can whip the Libray in pukila after we grow to 5, and after strat a setler for future maoi. And yeah lapua can stay 3-4 more turns without the wheat .I think we should build a road conection between NUmmijvari and alomo so we can go with workers around easier.

I thin we can whip the setler when a 2 pop whip is posible in Jutas as well. I think is one of the last turn when we can change our minds and invest forest in units not wonder..., both options are very good....
