So no wars thankfully. Good city count although the GNP is suffering a little now. Good job I got the golds up. Need to push to get the others online. And basically get some culture. I should be safe here and have a HA stack. The NE of me is interesting. By rights it would be easiest for commodore to settle but who knows what will happen there.
[Spoilers PB27] REM tries to get a handle on this mod

Is that because I have the most soldiers in the game by almost 100k? And next turn I am going to war? Had to post that to try and disguise my turn order keepingness and not playing a turn after straight away... Sssh. Although perhaps if you are aware they are expecting it... Their solider values suggest otherwise though.
Weekend! Update time for t100 and the action on from it... Won't spoil it but I know Commodore updates very well, so I imagine that people are already aware of things afoot.
Essentially since the last update I have become more and more annoyed with myself in this game. I really shafted myself with my 4th city, maybe even my third. While Commodore played a great gambit of pinning me down early with warriors, and planting his irritating cre cities in the face of his imp neighbour to try and gain himself more land. Good stratergy. He sealed off the western land from me nicely which had soso land and has preceeded to settle it out handsomely. I have gone SE, although realistically that was probably a mistake to go quite as far as I have, creating more risks to defend against for very little reward. I was pushed off land closer to Elkad by him having a few more units. Maybe I have been blinded slightly by being irked, but he has so little army and so much land to defend I think I can do damage to Commodore. Also note in this mod with the whip changes, it REALLY penalises emergency whipping. Rather than 2 pop for 60/3*2 for 40 hams and a spear, it is now 3 pop for 70/3*2 for 46 hams and a spear. Therefore cities need to be size 6+ for an instant whip of a spear/axe. It does not sound like much but needing to be size 6 limits the amount of defence early cities can get from thin air... So the past few turns have been me essentially preparing to attack Commodore. Whipping fairly hard a mostly HA army to try and overrun him. At least one of us will be destroyed by this move, even if it ends in a stalemate. Perhaps both of us. But he has too much land to allow to keep going like this. Unless I get shafted while it is happening by a neighbour. My neighbour to my SW is doing even better thought. Taotao is supercharged or something - his growth curve is epic, his tech rate extrodinary and he has landed the MoM, loads of calendar resources and generally he is owning this game. He also has almost as much military as me too somehow... He would be my favourite to win this game. A few screenies from the buildup Thought this one particularly amusing... Elkad happy for me to have 70% odds on his rather nice city! Other things of note - my tech is appaling... I did not really use getting HBR pre currency. That was a mistake definitely. I only have gold as a happy, about to get whales. However I have managed to secure silver and gems so happiness isn't too bad. I think I have been too scared of the cottage rules too... I have been paranoid of not being able to convert cities to hammer heavy ones later. So I have been slow on the building of them.
So here we go t100
Cap World SE Tech (I know it's poor) Demos West and armies I have kept the armies pretty hidden, hopefully he thinks the army is mainly sword/axe based due to my early IW for the golds. Marked x's are where I will go. Mostly to hit his third city which has taken my bloody pigs... But also to hit the city to my NW from a nice protected jungle. Also I want to go NE to try and take that city. Undecided whether I should keep it or not. I do not want to provoke Elkad into coming at me, nor be pinned down in there. Interestingly I got this this turn: I assume he means Non aggression at least or possibly alliance. I didn't want others to see so I cancelled and sent back. Hopefully he understands this idea and doesn't accept it.
T101 - pissed off. Damn Taotao cannot see why I wouldn't want it to be on the trade screen! Sparked a load of commodore whipping. Hopefully too little too late. Or perhaps it was the worker (that I tried to hide in the city) as I do only need 1 more turn of roading to the NE of st petersburg.
As you can see most went up to hit his third city which has the pyramids in! No wonder I lost the pigs tile... Minimal defences all around. 5 HA and a chariot to the NE city, the NW city will be attacked with the slow movers next turn. Also interesting to note - if I take the pyramid city then I will push him back out of rep and into despotism hurting his happy limits.
I open 102 to find more units than I expect - no promos so his troop numbers are lower due to no barracks bolstering I guess.
The NE city had only 2 spears and a cata - I managed to capture it but it would only have a HA and chariot in at best. An axe to reenforce NT with the other HAs. He had a spear and cat that could hit next turn at least... If he recaps and whips out a chariot, It will be messy and I will struggle to hold. Sadly it had to go. No screenshots though. Probably could have kept but not worth it. I lost 2HA for the 2spears and a cata. I thought long and hard about this attack and decided to go for it in the end. I had odds of 20% kill 20% retreat with my HAs on his spears. And well I was rewarded for my balls. 2GGs, and only 2 chariots 4 HA lost 260 ham for 6 spear 1 axe 1 char 5 cata 525 ham. Also I still have the most soliders in the world! I think Commodore is in trouble here. However he does hold a grudge rather strongly, and he has great MFG albeit spread out strongly. It all depends how hard I can push onto him now. Given how I decimated the army in the pyramids city I wish I had kept the city I captured after all... I think he will retreat to the cap now, and with where the GGs spawned I could have moraled a spear into there NT also. Plus it kept a gran/market Post combat demos - Power chart I note taotao is at war with DZ too. He has a better neighbour to bash in him I feel looking at the army sizes...
GG Commodore, I am sorry I left you at one city for ages, hopefully that was not too irritating. I do feel that you were really unlucky with the troop lineup in the decisive battle in Amondom. If you had only a couple more spears instead of cats then I wouldn't have been able to do what I did. Well played, if I had not gone when I did then I believe that you would have eclipsed me fairly rapidly! And now I know I was your only neighbour so to speak I understand better why the settling was so aggressive!
However - if you had gone to war against me earlier when you pressed me with warriors you would have slowed me down immensely. I was really unprepared for that and you did stop me putting down a city above St Petersburg, which I would have reached a turn before Amondom if I remember correctly. I was always miffed at that settle and you were my only real target after that without knowing that I needed to kill you as you had to break out through me... But overall very nice play and I only just caught you. I look forward to facing you again some time
Cheers, REM. How's the empire look now?
