The problem with the PH is that if he moves there, copper is very awkward to settle. Ideally should be 1S of copper but cant because of the lake. The best tile then would be on the ivory and border pop but that would be slow. The tundra tile just seems so out of place. And due to lack of food, city 3 would be SW of horses? Overall, the map seems very food poor. Is it intentional?
Finally, will other starts have to account for distance between capitals after PH move especially considering the delayed copper hookup?

I'd forgotten how foodless Torusland can be. Attached map.

Heh, crosspost.

I'm not putting my heart and soul into editing, so this is a largely unedited Torusland map for a base, with balancing factors added on top (for example, a lot of rejigging of starts, connecting lakes so that everyone can be bordered evenly, ensuring ICTR access, and so on). I will spruce up the land, as I agree that it's too foodless, but aggressive balancing was neither offered nor (at least initially) expected.

Tundra is generated. I will sink one of the lakes, and move that rice closer/dejungle it to offer a river/irrigated rice/fps second city.

It's a rather big map, so I don't think it matters particularly. Certainly not like it did for XLIV.

not too aggressive balancing is fine. I just really am concerned about reasonable access to copper and horses, with the former easier to access than the latter, then hopefully everything else can get sorted out in game.

Balance report: http://media.rhizzone.net/civ/pbem72.html

Some highlights:

Player 2 (Darius) is the only player with ivory
Player 1 and 2 (Pacal) have no horse
Player 0 (Q) and 3 (WvO) has no copper
Players 0 and 3 have no access to stone and marble, but 1 and 2 do
Player 0 doesn't have aluminum or uranium
Player 2's capital is significantly food-worse than the others'
Player 1 has no rivers at their capital, or really, anywhere nearby at all

Player 0 doesn't really have any ancient luxuries; everyone else has 1-2
Player 3 has way more land available
Player 3 has way less food available - and no this doesn't balance out the above

Also, nobody has a plainshill capital, but, you probably should give them one.

1: No accessible early happy except planting on the gems. No real food for copper city w/o a border pop. I really would add another source of food between the southern rice and grass cow.
2: No access to to early happy or copper until sailing. Corn on the land strip and cow on the 1tile island just looks really awkward.
3: Already discussed but maybe make the jungle rice a banana instead? I would be ok with keeping that place as a backline as long as land to the N,E and S have sufficient food for cities.
4: No early copper access.

GJ: that hyperlink has a map that is nothing like PBEM72.

I'll have a look through strats. I turned on the strategic resources close setting, and between that, the size of the map, and no barbs meant I wasn't too concerned, but it is worth checking properly.

I thought they were playing with no elephants?

No. Pacal literally has horse in his BFC...

Not giving them a PH.

Shifted around the sheep and lakes, moved gems a bit north off the jungle and shuffled food closer to make more viable.

Swapped copper and iron. Added desert gold. Not seeing the problem with the corn? And definitely not changing the cow, when the 'script gives you a beauty like that you don't mess with it.

Work now, map attached.

Just seeing grain that cant get irrigated is awkward for my ocd tendencies. Is it possible to change it to a sheep or dear? Will look at map at home later today
