So, the clue is SCYTHIAN and not SCYTHIANS. So far, BAND would be the only thing that really says to me that the given clue is better. (If there were NO phrase "scythian x" involved, I think SCYTHIANS would be the more obvious clue.) Like Commodore, I have some association with the phrase "scythian band." So I think we should go for BAND.

This being a tougher choice, I will not make it unilaterally.
