Technically, isn't Fairy Tale two words?

My spellcheck says its one word, so I said I'd allow it.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.

Besides the ones Old Harry pointed out, I'd say King (almost all fairytales have kings) and glass (Alice through the looking glass). Unicorn, dwarf, needle and king are the better ones, I think.

Initial guesses:

Unicorn and Dwarf as the obviously mythical entries. But there're too many possibles for choice 3, ie element of many fairytales (King) or central elements of well-known fairytales ([Captain] Hook, Glass [slipper], Needle)

I'm happy to just go for the first two for now.
I'd rate needle, king and glass similarly. No need to rush a decision.

Yeah, I'm fine with Dwarf, Unicorn, Pass.

Ok, apologies for slow response. It's 8:54am here. My take is that DWARF is an absolute stonewall answer and we are safe to point at it. NEEDLE, GLASS and HOOK all have some association but none of them are strong enough. Moreover, I would be surprised if it was one of these as Brick would have considered the others also and there's no knowing if we would guess the right one. The link is the same for them all so I think it would be all or nothing on these. I vote that we do not point at any of those three at this stage.

Unicorn is a strange one. It would be an obvious pick if the clue was FANTASY or MYTHICAL but it is FAIRYTALE which does not rule this out but does cause me to think twice. Personally, I can't think of any unicorns in any well known fairy tales. Yet, despite all this, it does fit the theme and I still think it is a strong answer. It's just not quite as clear as DWARF in my mind. With there being 3 answers, I would vote to point at UNICORN also.

For the third answer, I think KING is our best bet. KING is not an obvious nod to any one fairy tale, but rather is in pretty much all of them. It fits the theme on a macro level which, I think, makes it our best pick. As said before, if the answer Brick was looking for was NEEDLE, surely he would consider GLASS slipper or captain HOOK as being just as valid? For this reason (I see those three as a grouping) I actually would prefer to point to KING rather than pass.

I can see arguments for Amazon (sell books and are a myth) and Eagle (in a bunch of fairytales, right?) but I think those are pretty tenuous.

Gah, now you've got me questioning unicorn duhduhduh. Is there a proper definition of fairytale? Is it the Brothers Grimm or just anything a bit magical? These are is the fairytales I think the words are associated with - although my brain is now 90% dependent on Google, so I've probably missed something obvious.

DWARF - Snow White
UNICORN - There is one about a girl and a unicorn isn't there? Or is that a Kornbluth short story?
KING - I can't think of one that the king stars in
NEEDLE - Sleeping Beauty
GLASS - Cinderella's glass slipper was a mistranslation, but common enough usage. It is a little bit of a stretch
HOOK - Peter Pan - I don't think of Peter Pan as a traditional fairytale - but I'm not an expert on how BRick thinks... Also seems a little bit of a stretch

So sticking to traditional fairytales I'd say DWARF, NEEDLE, GLASS. Going for the most obvious thematic links though I'd say DWARF, UNICORN, KING.

From the first red clue (Written:2) I think we know KING isn't red so that would be a less risky third guess (could still be the black word). Waiting for more clues should give us more info like that to work with, but if there's no risk of it going red we might as well point at it.

Anyway, to keep things moving

Point to DWARF

Well, that's a good start. I agree with you Old Harry and would advocate pointing to all three. Brick is a veteran of this and I don't think we have a chance of hitting the black word.
