Yeah, DTG has at least 20 elite Knights and an insane land advantage. Meanwhile nobody is challenging him for it, a situation for which I bear a significant burden of responsibility.
Feel free to toss in the towel at any time, guys. If DTG was behind in tech I could see how Al or Commodore might gain an advantage over him, but he isn't and they won't. For my part, I don't really have any plans besides "build more military and try to complete more essential infra". There are about four more filler cities I'd like to settle, but the maintenance costs means that it's looking pretty economically dubious. As much as I've enjoyed my combo I'd have been far better served doing to a test game or something so that I'd understood just how harsh the costs of expansion would be. The geography has hurt a lot too, I've benefited tactically from the obvious chokepoints, but most of my cities are a fair distance from my capital, even though I don't think I've claimed much of what would have naturally been anyone else's land.
Overexpansion seems to be a running theme in my games as of late. Too much Civ III on the side, maybe
