"I'm strongly against APPLE", famous last words. lol

PART is red and the red team win cry

My next clue was going to be Disc: 2 – what would the blues have said to that?

The thinking behind my clues
Creature: 3
I very nearly went with Creature: 4, but thought ANGEL might not be totally obvious and that you might lean toward FOREST instead. I then kicked myself.

Beelzebub: 4
Emboldened by how easily you'd done Creature this may have been a bit of a dumb move. I was going to go for Satan: 3 originally to get ANGEL, DEATH and hopefully SLIP (y'know, because of the fall and all that), but suddenly realised that Beelzebub, Lord Of The Flies gives a very tenuous link to STOOL (which I dreaded pairing with WASHER and SLIP). I thought you might go for AIR, but hoped that would be too much of a stretch and really couldn't see any other links. APPLE and IVORY were surprise suggestions to me, I wish you'd gone for one of them instead of AIR. frown

Excrement: 1
This one was designed to pull us out of the shit. With COUCH and POOL on the board I really couldn't see a way to link STOOL, SLIP and WASHER all in one, so I just hoped Zac didn't have a double for the last words. :/

Sorry guys, if I'd looked a bit closer at what Zak had to work with I'd have realised he wasn't ending on a three and should just have played Satan: 2, but for some reason I'd got Him being a Fallen Angel stuck in my head as an obvious clue crazyeye.

Well played Zac and the red team.

Whew, stumbling on Branches was dangerous, big props to zakalwe for getting us back on the right track.

All right! Well done, Zak. Especially, as El Grillo says, shoving us back on track after Branches.

Oooooh, slip, I see that now. Never entered my mind before though.

Well played, everyone, especially red team.

lol I was confident APPLE was the word.

I'll say that SLIP crossed my mind for Beelzebub, as in the Devil is waiting for you to slip in a sin. But I thought it was too much of a stretch. Should have said something, really.

I thought the word which would make sense for Lord of the Flies was PIG, didn't think of STOOL.

It was a pretty hard set of words, OH. In the end, our AIR guess really was the big decider, I think. It would be closer otherwise.

Another squeaker. Good game all; good clues, zakalwe!

Well played, team. I was very pleased that you nailed the first three, so I was hoping you'd realize that I had already made an effort to clue orange without including apple. In general, I wasn't aiming for obvious true positives, but trying to minimize the number of potential false positives. My last clue seemed safe in that regard, as I knew you'd have to guess something. smile
If you know what I mean.

I also considered "private" but I was worried about "private joy".

That did cross my mind, but I didn't think deeply enough: I thought something like 'well, Fruit: 2 would have gotten apple + orange, but a 3-word clue is obviously better'. Now that I look back at the grid, if Apple was ours you could have started off with something ridiculous like Branches: 5.
