So here we go again! Another pitboss - definitely maxed out now so will be nice to have input here if Gavagai is up for it.
I'll be happy and have some fun if I have some good wars and a decent game of civ. Little scared what RNG will throw at me after the debarcle of the PB22 start, so it can't be worse than that iceball?! Already it looks like the low drama point got lost spectacularly. I don't read enough threads to know a lot of the gripes between players but I did rather laugh at everything happening in the thread - I just want this rostered game to happen with these people! Wars will definitely be interesting here.
Your start sir. Only the starting city radius is firm, and pay no mind to the little green icon in the top left, the real thing will start with RBmod.
The following worldbuilder sim was produced by joeys mapcad tool for your start:

It's an awkward start with the fish and lack of any distinctive 'power' tile as such. Plus the worker will either be roading or doing many chops with little food growth with no early fishing...
I don't like the cha or cre too much still although I am far too whip happy which aztecs would help. If it were the classical agg/cre kubli khan I would have gone with that for a laugh. I like Mehmed, but babylon is wasted on expansive with the extra health and quick aquaducts anyway... Plus I was him in a version of this in 22. It's time I learnt to play a GPP game properly. I'll swing peter and see what I can do. The field has some lovely picks there but I will see what I can do with this and probably not generate a GP before turn 200 :P The main turn off for philo is that is a horrific beuro cap. It has a lot of water, no rivers and 1 non hill land tile! The land is very prohibitive to moving around also. A little unclear, pls confirm you're picking Peter of Holy Rome (January 29th, 2016, 18:19)Ceiliazul Wrote:(January 28th, 2016, 21:31)ReallyEvilMuffin Wrote: It's an awkward start with the fish and lack of any distinctive 'power' tile as such. Well the start until now. As much as I like moving and looking for a nice cap, there was no reason to move at all here. 2ham plant and in the middle of 4 food sources. Very slow to look anywhere else and I anticipated a random map spewing a load of rubbish to me...
When comparing PB27 to this... Well we were really spoilt with lushness there! So little food found currently. It is really barren. Really barren. The capital food is awkward to share easily and they are all low food yield tiles, although together they are ok. Even with the faster worker from exp and faster boats (really important here) I get a settler eot 24, going worker->work boat->work boat->warrior. I will end up being size 4 too, with 3 improved tiles. The worker was tricky, because the sheep is the best tile, but then he has little to do. BW is a long way away and the only mineable tile not that useful. So I decided to go wheel next. Get some roads up which will speed up the city planting and get 1 chop in for the settler. Standard switch to slavery settler en route and quick whip out of second worker or work boat. As to where to go... Well out left for the fish is like a city location possibly being a good quick moai spot. However it will likely go down to the SE for that grasshill sheep. Either on the grasshill to share the cap clam or onto the plainshill for the hammer boost. Depends what the scout sees there. He is coming back around now to get full information there. Any other plans? Standard quick play for courthouses. If I can find a good beuro cap spot an early scientist would be nice. Otherwise see how it goes. Hammer heavy area here, very little commerce potential currently which is concerning. GLH might be the way to go if possible. |
