Personally I associate "Sock" as punch with the '70s Batman TV series which filled the screen with that and similar words (biff, blammo, etc.) as the heroes valiantly battled the bad guys. (I'd google up an image, but....) I think Bean for that usage is mostly an American thing.

I'd probably favour guessing either Sock or Chick over passing straight away, but wouldn't mind being overruled.

Maybe set Sock and Chick aside as probable future guesses, for now. Having a two-word backlog is a bit suboptimal, though. I could go either way.
