Quote:Gonzo will be founded next turn. I think it'll chop out a work boat, grow to size 3 and chop and whip the granary before building another work boat to explore, then some chariots and a settler or two.

That ivory...hopefully OT4E isn't near, but it's such a reach and barren of food (so far).
Looks good on the moves.

Just saw this post by bob and remembered we have a settler sitting around idle at the moment... Go to mode tells us we can settle here (so no city within two tiles, which we knew anyway).
But not here. So the fp tile is within two tiles of a city belonging to a neighbour (OT4E?) I guess that means we don't get elephants .

But meanwhile, how much of the land in between do we want to grab?

The FP tile could be close to someone else's city (or in their culture), but it could instead be currently occupied by a hostile unit (obviously a barb, probably an animal).

I know that the civ5 MP community has a mod that patched that settler scouting out, I have no idea how hard it would be here; especially with krill now consumed by other endeavors.

Its all rubbish. None of it please!
Although we need to get the stone. So we'll aim that way at least. And the land near the coast might be pretty good, so perhaps some of that too. But I'm pleased at how poor the land directly between us and OT4E is because we either have some neutral ground or he settles a terrible city which drags his empire down and makes him an easy target.

Wow, so we could declare on OT4E to figure out if his scout is somewhere we can see? I'll try to have a go at seeing how many barbs there are in our fogged territory before settling next turn.

The oasis here is the only non-peak tile that can't be settled. But that's because you can't settle them. I found it hard to believe there are no barbs in the fog, so I did a world builder test and it looks like the settler ignores barb units and animals, so you can't find them . Sorry Bob.
Anyway Gonzo starts working the clam because that means the chop will finish the work boat with exact hammers so the overflow doesn't get lost.
And I think we're first to the third city (although Mack could have tried to disguise one last turn), which puts us back to the top end of the demos. Next turn I'll do another dot-mapping picture so we can work out how to keep the pace up...

It takes one turn after you place the barb in world builder for the trick to work. The unit has to move or something. So, if you tested by placing a barb in WB and trying the trick in the same turn, test again after passing a turn. I think it should work then.
