Education. I can't seem to get where they both occur in the tech tree and what they do right. I don't even have RTR-blindness excuse because Krill hasn't shuffled them around at all rolleye. Anyway, with no economic boost from Theocracy I don't think it's worth the bulb. I'll push a golden age to switch to HR on t118 instead, then I can finally grow some cities while boosting the size of the army. Meanwhile I've offered Gavanth a couple of health resources they don't have for their spare silk - perhaps they'll go for it?

Viking vultures are poised to swoop next turn, but R2 Helium will have an Archer, an Axe and a War Chariot in, which stops an amphibious attack dead. Then there are two axes which can reinforce Gas-3PO or R2-Helium and plenty of war chariots to be wherever they are needed if an expeditionary force lands. I don't see enough units down in Birka for an assault on Max Rego next turn, but I have to be wary of a 4-mover boating Ichabacca from the fog...

Wait, Mistollin is giving them vultures?

You know what I mean. neenerneener

I have no idea what is really on those boats, I'd guess the gg axe is, but I didn't track what units they had in Birka.

Turn 114

No sign of a war dec - in fact the navy has headed east, presumably to renew the attack on Ipecac now that OT6mn have Construction. Even if I could scrape together enough Axes to get to the Spears in Birka the walls mean I wouldn't get odds, so an uneasy peace is going to reign until I bag Construction or Machinery, or OT6mn decide to head this way again.

I'm pondering Currency next. CoL for cheap courthouses is another thing, but costs are really low so far. Iron Working and Calendar would be needed for the last couple of cities I can fit in on the mainland.

Holy spearmen, Batman. Currency sounds good to me.

Turn 115

Somehow I've met REM who has colossus and the Buddhist shrine, but seems to be trailing the other contenders slightly. He tells us (via F4) that OT6mn are at war with Ipecac and Zanth, Molach and Dantski haven't met Ipecac yet.

Monarchy in two, then grow everywhere to be unhappy, launch golden age and switch to HR. OT6mn are on Archery at the moment. If they put together a HA + Cat stack what can we do against that? Longbows? Crossbows?

If you don't have 100+ war chariots, you're doing this wrong.

What are the approximate tech times for Construction, Feudalism, and Machinery? But yeah, war chariots are probably a good bet due to cost effectiveness.

Like so?

Got everything to the left, nothing to the right.

You can have some graphs too as I'm feeling generous.

Look at the scoreboard - I'm clearly doing this wrong already tongue.

Calendar, Construction or Currency are about 11 turns (not in a golden age), Feudalism is ~22 turns, Machinery is 22 but needs 15 turns for Metal Casting too. Currency gets us 14 commerce per turn (plus wealth builds) so that'll be next up I think. After that I probably like Construction for cats.

Turn 121

Not a lot going on over the last few turns, I've been trying to grow my cities unhappy as we've got Monarchy and a great prophet to launch a golden age and switch to HR, but hooking wine and getting silk in return for a couple of health resources from Gavanth and then having gold pop at Max Rego means I keep wanting to kick the golden age down the road.

That would be fine except that I also want to complete Currency asap as that's a huge boost to the economy, and what better way to do that than a golden age? I've got a couple more cities that will grow again over the next couple of turns, but I think this is as good a time to start it as any, so I'm going to launch the GA this turn and should get Currency in four turns.

Unit costs are about a third of my costs at the moment, which is funny because I've got a lot of units sitting in build queues either a few hammers from completion (eight) or 2-pop whippable (two) just in case neighbours get frisky. If that happens take 10gpt off my economy straight away... Right now my army is about half the size of OT6mn's and slightly smaller than Gavanth's, but OT6mn are still at war with Ipecac, so I'm going to keep on running the risk. scared

My exploring workboat headed due south, but hasn't managed to uncover any other civs at all smoke. If I was a contender I'd be scrambling to settle these lush-looking islands right now, but I don't even have sailing yet. cry
