[spoiler] 2metraninja and ot4e make waves

So we have captured ipecac's cap again. The bad thing for us is that GG was born on his St.Helena's island, his current cap.
3 cata's and 1 axe lost. Well, I guess those were inevital losses.

We are going to plant city above it and 1 more near crabs, but for this we need to have certain plan how to get rid of his other continental cities.

Short (I indeed planned to make it so) report about overall situation.

Thewannabe has started golden age and has adopted bureuacracy. It is not bad at all considering the strength of his cap and leader overall. By the will of lurkers he is away from everyone and it will be a big problem to do anything to him for the others. I think he is the main contenderer now

Imagine, if 2metraninja didnt hesitate to pick up char into our galley, it would be razed!

Gavagai has completed Great Library, probably he will take Artist from Music for his golden age. Then he will throw everything to chase Thewannabe. His strenght is in wonders (ind +marble + stone), representation and much happy resources. We have removed the threat of the early aggression against him pulling full attention of Old Harry, though I dont beleive they would have a conflict, unless Gavagai himself would decide to cut a piece of Old Harry, but so far he has chosen that Old Harry is more useful for him alive as natural barrier against us.

Mistoltin has started militarizing, we dont have view of his graphs, but probably he is the 2nd one whose power has jumped from 180k to 260k within just 2 turns. I will be happy to find out that I am wrong in this assumption. His strength is in large number of green tiles and courthouses he has build almost everywhere within last 10 turns. Nobody else has courthouses yet. We dont see his cap, but who has doubts it is as good as hell?

Molach is our oldest trade partner. I really hope that he is aggressive player and is planning a visit to one of our enemies, though his land seems to be self-satisfying and he still has enough room to plant new cities. But he is AGG+IND, and the part with forges he has already used.

REM is an unpredictable guy for me. He is in the middle of the land and though he doest seemed as locked as we were he may be looking for a good moment to grab some lands and resources from somebody. But being Fin with Colossus and plenty of water may keep him happy with what he has for long.

Another dark horse of this game is Dantski. We slowed him well early and to be honest he was very slow in expansion himself, but now he is fully recovered. He has spent 1 of his golden ages, but we shall never forget that he is Darius, the leader with the best potential for the late game imho and pretty nice civ for feeling happy and safe with Jannissary and Hammams. Another his advantage is in that he is not facing anyone and can extend his empire to the east. You must see the screenshot under spoiler. All that land belongs to him. But he is not in hurry to connect it since he is settling islands between him and us and I feel so much pity that we simply have no time or resources to give him a lesson.

Nations not mentioned above do not deserve to be mentioned. Hmmm... Stop... I forgot one thing.... Lonewolf has sold us dyes for 5gpt, so I must thank him specially. The next city we capture from ipecac we rename in honor of him. popcorn

LOL, I said few times already we are not roleplaying Vikings, but I just could not resist the resemblance:

BTW, we decided that we could not let Dantski get away with it for settling islands under our nose, which we consider our natural habitat and decided to give him a lesson.

Before the game became completely boring 2metra and I decided to make one more shot for conquest.

The main reasons we decided to do it were the following:
1) We havent declared war to anyone for long
2) We couldnt decide what to tech (with -51 gpt we will not have too choose new techs so often)
3) Standing army maintance costed us a lot ( so we decided to whip more)

As allways we have picked a neighbor with the most flat power graph without waiting for an official invitation. This time it was Dantski again.

The first turns of war showed that we are on the right path, though we had some problems with positive losing odds. But chars kill axes quite effectively.

After taking the first city on Ivory our mobile group of char advanced further and got in position to attack the next raw of cities.

This city got surrounded by Ottomans culture from 7/8 sides, so we decided to raze it.

The slow part of the stack is trying not to be late for the party. And of course the main part of the show is still waiting to start. Prepare popcorn...

So the original plan was not just to raze a few cities with chariots, but to land the main group and capture the core cities.

Here is how it looks now:

I also noticed that Gavagai is supplying Dantski with horses, Dantski is sending those ipecac. What can it mean?

The coastal line has fallen easily, 2-3 units each so they could only exchange for ours 1 to 1. The small trick with doublewoodsman and axes in galley allowed us to take the top city also.

But the cap looked well defended. In our dreams we were already taking the last islands from Dantski and we didnt think much about our own security. We sent a part of our stack forward relying on catas to defend us from his spears and got into trap. Those horses from Gavagai I mentioned above were not a common gesture of compassion, it was vile plan to pull us into trap and it worked.

Losing 5 cata almost without doing any damage was going to put our operation out of zone of possibilities. We needed great luck or mistake. Fortunately it didnt make us wait for long. Dantski inspired with his victory overestimated his defenses and let us take his cap without losing much.

The problem was that he had only a single axe to defend against our catapults and spears are not good for this job. So we have lost 4 cata only.

Or is it another trap?

I like how the bottom of the scoreboard is all "Viking victims".
