Ketchup and Fork seems like it could've been clued a lot easier than this.

I like the idea of box and ketchup. A plural makes me think of a container for a box of buns.

If school was one of the words, then dinner could work fine.

I think Ketchup is a lock, but I really dislike fork.

For the second word... I don't know. It's tough to think of a single word which clues both Ketchup and Fork., most foods you'd put the former on you just hold with your hands. But box does make a certain sense which hadn't occurred to me. You'd put like cinnamon buns in a box for sure... but you'd also eat them with a fork if you don't want sticky fingers.

I'm sorry but fork is a real non-starter with me. Over in the UK I see loads of meals where people add ketchup and eat it with a fork.

The choice to use buns instead of just bun really makes a big difference to me. Remember when I did burns instead of burn? The plural emphasised the clue degree which may otherwise have been ignored.

Thus what do we think of when we think of buns?

I never eat one with a fork.
I've bought boxes of buns (bread or cake) before
I've heard of buns of steel or shake your buns dancing.

So I think it's a toss up between box and dance.

Either one is hard to clue with ketchup so that doesn't help much either.

Compelling arguments.

I'm not set on anything. I'll be very surprised if we don't land Ketchup though.

I'm so unsure I'm fine with Box. It at least does play to the plural point.

I like TT's argument for Box or Dance with the plural clue. I'd rate Box above Dance, but I'm fine with either.

Whichever you prefer is fine with me, TT.

Oh, TT is probably offline, it's probably like almost 1 AM in England.

Okay, well, dave has a slight preference for box, and the rest of us are uncertain, but it was TT's first non-ketchup suggestion, so:

Also, for the record, Ketchup is the "Protective trait" of Codenames. In a grid full of words with alternate meanings, it's a vaguely unpleasant condiment that hardly pairs with anything.
