There are at least four types of files: computer files, physical files of paper, and the metal files to file nails, people in file (regular arrangement).

But I don't see any good associations. NAIL, definitely. THUMB for the nail filing bit, maybe. CARD and TIME seem possible but I couldn't say why.

Definitely like NAIL file, I think that we are agreed on. Then... Files are often made of CARD, I was rather drawn to this next. Files have SPINEs too. Lock also tittles me, unsure why.

I agree with pjabrony's reasoning about CARD and how we're supposed to avoid thumb.

People used to file through locks to break through locked doors but I think CARD is much stronger.
