Since I don't really understand the World Builder, the starts I've tried with this combo never get this particular set of resources. I was lucky in one to get a Hill city & a Floodplain, so I've an idea of the first couple of turns in terms of timing. But, as you will see, I've ventured into the unknown with Turn 2 as there was never a 4/0/1 Deer around banghead

Turn 2 - 3880BC

Ian Wright moved 2N1W to find a way past the Forested tiles .. damn, there's a Hill! rant

Switched from the Floodplain (3/0/1) to the unimproved Deer (4/0/1) to speed up the Worker - this may affect the timings logged from my trial runs cry
PBEM12 - Shaka of Inca [6/6*] PBEM18 (Apps) - Augustus of China [4/4*] PBEM31 - Hannibal of Greece [jnt2-4/5*] PBEM72 - Willem of Oranje - Dutch [3/4*] PBEM74A -Catherine of Babylon [4/4][*ended early]

World builder is pretty easy to use. You can get quite quick with it, built the whole thing on it in a couple of hours.

The reason I said is that you will get your worker 1 turn quicker with creative. So yes your plans will be all out!

Oh well, too late now. I'll have to have a play with World Builder in future

1 turn quicker? How so? Maybe I can squeeze a 2nd Worker out before Archery finishes then shhh

You get the deer tile a turn before a non creative player getting just enough food to build the worker in 7 turns not 8.

Turn 3 - 3820BC

Ian Wright moved on 1NW this turn as he had to climb a Hill! At least he'll move 2NW next turn as he can see mainly Grassland ahead!

At end of turn I joined Adrien & Khan on 39 points. Had a look at my rivals & note that Adrien is Fin/Ind (Capac) of Mali, Khan is Exp/Ind (Bismarck - he must be Mali too, surely?) & El Grillo is Spi/Org (Asoka) of Zulus. Mali start with Mining & Wheel, did they just tech Hunting too? Damn, they're also going for Archery next, right? Bowmen vs skirmishers .. yikes! Wonder if I'll stumble on El Grillo's Zulus first? He'll only have Warriors until he gets Bronze Working for his Impi, the gamble on Bowmen will pay off here! Dance

Decided to post these whilst they look good for me; how am I beating a Financial on GNP? smug

However, no-one else is Creative, so how is my Rival Best in Crop also on 6? Did they get something else instead of Dyes? Sugar maybe? I'd kill for a Sugar start (I think I was supposed to get a different start in pbem72 - Sian noted he got 2 different starts due to the error in turn order banghead) REM said this isn't mirrored, but balanced starts. if I got Dyes, and someone else got Sugar, who got Spices and Silk? Ooh .. could Adrien (Fin) be working a non-riverside Sugar? Foregoing GNP for Crop?

Also, what's with the discrepancy in Soldiers? Did someone not get a Scout? Did someone delete it? Adrien, and probably Khan, have Mali; does Mining add to this score? Are they on 8000? But Zulus start with Hunting, how are they on 2000?

The Worker will be finished before Archery comes in; do I start another or a Settler, then switch to an early Bowman?

Options for tech after Archery:

1. Mining -> Bronze Working (Slavery whip)

2. Mysticism -> Meditation/Polytheism -> Priesthood (try to beat those pesky Industrious ones to the Oracle)

3. Fishing -> Sailing -> Pottery -> Writing -> Mathematics -> Calendar (for the Dyes) followed by Masonry -> Construction (for the Garden)

Turn 4 - 3760BC

Turn 5 - 3700BC

Ian Wright moved 1N2W onto a Hill. He spotted Marble up near the Silver, and Forested Incense (which I had missed until I put the bubbles on). Not much in the way of food up here so far.

Quick squizz at Demos and someone's caught up on the Soldier points. As El Grillo has joined us on 39 points, it has to be him; so what tech is worth 4000 Soldier points?

Turn 6 - 3640BC

Ian Wright moved only 1W due to hacking through Jungle & Forest. There's a spur of land heading southwest, he'll investigate that next.

First worker (Alan Pardew) completes at end of this turn, so I queued up a Settler. Will switch to a Bowman in 2 turns time.

Still no idea what to tech after Archery .. Animal Husbandry maybe .. there's Cows where I want to plonk the next city to the northwest shhh
