Turn 3 - 3820BC
Ian Wright moved on 1NW this turn as he had to climb a Hill! At least he'll move 2NW next turn as he can see mainly Grassland ahead!
At end of turn I joined Adrien & Khan on 39 points. Had a look at my rivals & note that Adrien is Fin/Ind (Capac) of Mali, Khan is Exp/Ind (Bismarck - he must be Mali too, surely?) & El Grillo is Spi/Org (Asoka) of Zulus. Mali start with Mining & Wheel, did they just tech Hunting too? Damn, they're also going for Archery next, right? Bowmen vs skirmishers ..
! Wonder if I'll stumble on El Grillo's Zulus first? He'll only have Warriors until he gets Bronze Working for his Impi, the gamble on Bowmen will pay off here!
Decided to post these whilst they look good for me; how am I beating a Financial on GNP?
However, no-one else is Creative, so how is my Rival Best in Crop also on 6? Did they get something else instead of Dyes? Sugar maybe? I'd
kill for a Sugar start (I think I was supposed to get a different start in pbem72 - Sian noted he got 2 different starts due to the error in turn order
) REM said this isn't mirrored, but balanced starts. if I got Dyes, and someone else got Sugar, who got Spices and Silk? Ooh .. could Adrien (Fin) be working a non-riverside Sugar? Foregoing GNP for Crop?
Also, what's with the discrepancy in Soldiers? Did someone not get a Scout? Did someone delete it? Adrien, and probably Khan, have Mali; does Mining add to this score? Are they on 8000? But Zulus start with Hunting, how are they on 2000?
The Worker will be finished before Archery comes in; do I start another or a Settler, then switch to an early Bowman?
Options for tech after Archery:
1. Mining -> Bronze Working (Slavery
)
2. Mysticism -> Meditation/Polytheism -> Priesthood (try to beat those pesky Industrious ones to the Oracle)
3. Fishing -> Sailing -> Pottery -> Writing -> Mathematics -> Calendar (for the Dyes) followed by Masonry -> Construction (for the Garden)
