Map trades definitely count towards it as the whole kerfuffle involving one in the PB31 tech thread will attest to.
Good to know then, thanks!
Since we share a sea with cartographer-extraordinaire BGN, that will make getting Steel (and Drydocks) an absolute must next, as we have planned. If BGN is going Steel first, we may need to protect our seas sooner than expected.

Why are ironclads that scary? The worst they can do is blockade us on one side, or escort galleons at a snail's pace giving us plenty of time to build defenders. Combustion bringing destroyers and transports is what's really terrifying.

He is just SW of us on the other side of an island, so I don't want him to just sail up and boat us with the equivalent of Nav 3. He won't be able to get Ironclads without Steam anyway, so we may still beat him to those.
One thing you will learn about me is that I've learned to become hyper-vigilant since joining RB, so I end up thinking defensively almost to a fault. But sometimes it pays off.

Other news I don't want to wait until tonight's report:
So far, REM as OB with Pindicator
BGN has OB with scooter
I say we try to reach out to either Pindicator or Noble or both to get whatever small trade benefit we can, as well as making a possible friendship with someone far enough away to have no designs on us.
As a note, Pindicator is watching our advance on Tartar unfold, and could decide to explore our lands. But we have an Explorer heading up his way too.
Let me know what you think.

Is it tonght yet?
This is mostly an "I'm still here" post, as there isn't much to say on your big post.
I said Delhi specifically because it's in your core, but I guess the water means we're always surrounded. But still, how are you saying it won't get there in time? It won't take more than ~5 turns, and you aren't attacking that soon, are you? Then again, five turns at least have passed since I posted that
Nationhood just for EP doesn't seem like the best when there's no way to directly benefit economically from it (through tech stealing), especially when you shouldn't be planning for war right away.
So if we can somehow get two more cities by the time we get Steel and the GE we rush IW? How long would that take naturally? Does the priority change if we don't have coal (though presumably we'd settle for it). Any thoughts to Mining Inc. or SoL (there's copper nearby, right?)?
Regarding sea stuff, I'm pretty sure blockades are banned (unless you mean a "one ship on every tile" blockade ![tongue tongue](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/RBOld/tongue.gif) ).

SoL seems like it would be very powerful on this map as it seems most of the land is connected in one big grid, but it won't provide the full benefits for a player unless they've filled out their own sphere of influence and also conquered someone else. It kind of feels like a sucker's build that a neighbor would punish almost.
I would favor Assembly Line over Steel next. Factories + Coal Plants in every city seems more powerful then Ironworks in one.
The main ironclad "blockade" I was worried about was someone camping our seafood with them.

Apparently we're in a turn split with Dreylin now? I'm guessing this is over the barb city?

My guess is it's re:Vijay, but have not logged in yet.
Sorry for the lack of reporting. I really have been a good steward of the save despite this setback, and there's no understating what a setback this is. We'll just have to see if it draws out other sharks.
Up to this point, we had been enjoying 2-turn growth in every city. Delhi will be Size 12 next turn.
I left two defenders (Rifle and Machine Gun) in the barb city, which a Dreylin scout witnessed last turn. And who knows, they may have a Spy on us too.
In Vijay, we have a Cavalry there with one promo due to a recent Barracks -- in fact, we have Barracks in Bombay now as well.
--- I suppose they could be landing at our capital too but that seems unlikely. Having that happen would be devastating due to all we have invested in research there, a mere 5 turns from Steam Power.
Next turn I will be revolting into at least Slavery and Vassalage, and perhaps bringing Theology along for the ride to give us pinch ready Cavs from Bombay at least. Then we will need to exploit some of our hard earned pop to remove this threat.
If they are smart, they will burn whichever city they take. Otherwise we will get it back, even if I have to lose the 2-bit barb city to do it.

What are you going to whip with slavery?
Where are we getting attacked, if that' what you mean when you say someone is trying to burn our cities?

Anyone who didn't change the channel after my rubber-sworded attacks in PB25 would know not to fuck with me as a native if they stuck around to read long enough. You would think this may be the case, since my thread with Adrien in that game did not merit a worthy read by whoever updates the PB tracker despite it's light humor, great team discussions and epic continental turnaround chronicled from page 50, where our Indian forces were up against pretty bad odds from the outset. In the pages that follow, they would have seen pretty specific reporting my favorite turn of all time, one that even eclipsed my boating of The Warning in that one DemoGame from way back....
Yet Dreylin was one of the RB crowd that at least had the decency to come in and haze me when I started to get a bit salty at times. So you'd think...
Well, I should probably look at the turn to see what is in store for us before I spout off too much more. Make sure to check out page 6 of your local paper for updates!
