If it's like this:
Quote:I play -> he play -> turn roll -> I play some not finish -> he declare.

then that's a double-move from him, technically. he probably didn't see that you hadn't finished. that said... you only asked for 5 minutes and it's been 15, and so I'm gonna stand by my decision to leave this mess for Brick to deal with and go to bed. wink

Night. As long as it isn't clear cut so I don't feel bad holding the mess... Night dude.

Also it isn't like a simple double move back would really change anything either. I just assumed that he looked in, decided not to bother attacking and left it at that. Bah if only I hadn't had been so tired I would have got to this before Dreylin attacked.

Password is 'herewego' BRICK if you think looking in would be easier.

Essentially I forsaw the likely invasion with the diplo offer and the positioning of the galleon and troops. I didn't have a huge amount of time to respond and think about this in the morning and move accordingly. I posted planned movements above. As I said, I had decided not to go for BGN and place myself to make it awkward for him. As a result of this even with a double move back I would still loose the city as he got the land access square cheaply.

Also he sent me a tacit (as I saw it) accept this or war offer so I assumed he looked in to see if I had accepted and played on feeling the counter proposal was acceptable.

If it is a no reload situation (which I appreciate, a lot of combat has probably gone on in that new war) I would have thought allowing me to double move back would be the fairest option? BGN still has gained from being able to land that jungle hill tile. That was the more realistic approach IMO anyway.

But you had said

And looking in the game I had come to agree with that, which is confusing.

and staying away from allowing additional double moves seemed wise.

It would allow me to get 2 turns of airship bombardment in on him, which with a rifle upgrade probably would be enough to keep the city.

Plus allow me to drop off the rifles without loosing the galleon should he take the city, thus keeping Douglas my other city on the island safe if the city is lost.

(I thought the reload unlikely, so I have been working out a strategy in my head to enact if that happened)

That post is true if I resign the city to a loss, but if I try to defend it then at least double moving back is hugely important.

Either way it'll be a little while before I can play. If it is no double move back I can't risk loosing the galleon and therefore probably Douglas. If I am allowed I will move to defend it.

So I abandoned the city. Hopefully he will settle it there and offer peace. That would make him have no losses for me a city/worker/cav/explorer. Not the end of the world but just really depressing for something that probably wouldn't have happened if I had been able to make my moves as intended before him. (I imagine he would not have declared at all)

Don't get me wrong, I don't blame anyone or think there is anything malicious in BGNs play. I know that admining a game is a thankless task and I don't blame you Brick for the decision, I do see the issues with everything. It might even have been more sensible for me to abandon the city rather than defend a marginal spot (my imagined plan would have not involved an unintended upgrade). BUT it is just so disheartening to loose out to a move you expected and saw coming in a game where you are doing relatively well. It kinda makes you feel like all the sims and micro was useless as any extra gain is just evaporated. If I hadn't had had any chance to play then it would have been a straight reload...

Lesson learned. As eager as I am to see what is going on, only log in if I can likely finish a turn in one go.

Mrs has been rather annoyed with me all day for being on the site conversing. If I still feel like this in the morning about the game with it preoccupying me, I might put the civ up for tender, I don't want civ to spill out and annoy the missus more than it does now. I doubt there would be many eligible people to consider it though.

In brighter news, I part bulbed facism with one of my GMs who were finally useful for something and will hopefully get the facism GG EoT. Scooter is 3 turns off, BGN is the only other possibility who might finish it this turn.
