Sorry to hear that REM, I hope it doesn't kill all interest in the game for you. I think you've played super well and are still very much in it no matter what!
If it's any consolation, if it wasn't for the facts that there was no official turn split preceding this AND that there were other critical turns/battles played since then that would be removed, I probably would have been okay with a reload. There were just so many factors to consider and muddled-togetherness that I felt it would be too interfering to do anything but play on here. Hope that might help restore some hope/confidence.

No I don't blame you at all. I wouldn't want to be replaying as any of the other players, and it is an awkward boat for you to juggle. The fact that I have played well only adds to my grievance though. If I make a foolish mistake and get called on it like in 30 (still feel like a fool for that double city raze mess) I'll muddle on investing a bit less time but knowing that it was completely my fault. But I'm down a good 400 hammers or so of useful stuff and some routes too to top it off :/ after I had planned a rather good defence out that would have made any attack impractical at the least, and reckless at most. I spent ages staring at some way to spin an advantage here but with most of my other moves already played I had nothing to do but reorganise the airforce and hope he takes peace. I did act rashly and move frigates onto him...
My realistic intention of the outcome would have been a allow me to double move back without any aggressive actions on cities/boats caveat. That has sailed now with the way I had to play the turn to compensate going second.
But I don't want this in my thoughts whilst I am not in game like it has most of the day today. If I can get the facism GG which will be at worst a coin flip I feel there could be a few interesting plays to open up for a replacement if after a sleep I really don't feel like continuing. I feel if I zone out here and just go through the motions the game is almost as good as gifted to Dreylin and OT4E, and a replacement is probably better than a half hearted play through by me. It's not lack of confidence or even lack of hope that I can do nothing here - I don't feel like I am or was winning, but I do think I would have a good chance (probably currently second with good potential) and would have made this go to the wire launching a full assault even on the back foot. I do think drey4e are making a mistake invading DZ as I can't see them breaking through against infantry for complete domination without horrendous losses long term.
The main thing though was I didn't want to be petulant either though and dictate the awkward decision you had to make. Going choose this or I leave is the lowest of the low IMO.

I suppose the only silver lining is it is only this turn that I realised I could bulb facism with a GM (doesn't seem a very merchanty thing, electricity seems more merchanty to me) as I might not have clicked on him to ponder throwing a GA and realised that bulbing was active again.
However the way the odds are going for me I bet I lost a coin flip with BGN on it...

Although actually I still question that, as in its most basic form this is with the play on; an opponent plays after me, turn roll, then they play before me. I thought that was the basis of any turn split establishment. Don't play after then before on declaring.
Dig deeper and it is worse though, as I am out of position and had moved most of my units anticipating making him think twice about declaring war on me.
But this is why I think it may be best if I bow out. I'm thinkig about this far too much.

Considering I think you're in first place in score, I really hope you continue playing with full gusto. This game has an unusually large audience and it would be a shame for it to fall apart with a stand-in for you. This game is exciting.

Thanks dude. It's not that I don't think I have a chance or anything like that, or that it is a huge setback (still about 2/3 of a turns MFG though) but I'm in serious trouble with the missus for being distracted all day about it. She does have a fair point too really.

Just tell her you're winning, she'll understand. My wife always does.

Her response was 'it's that bloody game AGAIN!? If you're not playing it you're reading or talking about it'. Probably would have been better not mentioning it. Tense here currently, but she's going out tomorrow night with her friends so I just need to weather the storm till then.
The other thing is that my father had a rather problematic confirmation diagnosis yesterday (when I would usually be available for playing was sorting all this out, comes with being the eldest and medical also) and will be having major surgery in a few weeks now. I do feel a bit guilty spending so much time on this and thinking about it so much. But I also didn't want to get a reload based on a pity vote.

oh man, have I been there...
maybe, instead of bowing out completely you could try taking breaks every couple of days, if/when you need it? I'm sure the other players would rather have that than have you bow out completely, as it really kills the tension in a game when one of the game leaders just disappears.
the situation with kyoto really stinks, my condolences... but, realistically, if you were to assume that he'd stop with just razing the city, isn't this a pretty minor setback? The rest of your empire seems to be superb.

Hey, REM. I feel what you are saying. In PB 27 I misclicked and razed a city I captured from Molach instead of keeping it, like I wanted to. I spent a long time thinking about it and feeling bad about it, even though I knew I shouldn't be. And the situation here is way worse.
I think you should whatever is best for you, even if it means leaving the game.
