Start of Game Benefits

Currently, MoM has one retort that is only relevant at the start of the game (Myrran). I wonder if it would be possible to add more 'start-of-game' benefits, such as:
  • Advanced Army: you start with some initial units (~200p). They are mercenaries and do not require buildings.
  • Advanced City: you start with some additional buildings (~200p).
  • Advanced Knowledge: you start with an Uncommon spell researched.
  • Bonus Settlement: you start with an additional Hamlet (population 1, no buildings, 1 spearman).
  • Starting Gold: you start with a chunk of bonus gold (~250)
  • Starting Hero: you start the game with a hero (fame 0, unless you are Famous).
  • Starting Mana: you start with a chunk of bonus mana (~250)

Some of these are possible but I intentionally avoid this type of retort because finding it in treasure would make no sense and it's not very interesting.
Most of these will feel a total waste of a pick after turn 50 or so, and the randomly generated game features have a higher influence than these : A single gold ore will, in about 46 turns, get you the 250 gold. A Noble hero will do it in 13.

I considered the starting hero but that would be far too random, depending on the hero it might be an amazing advantage (imagine getting the wind walker with noble, or the Soul Linker with Guiding Beacon if you have sprites) or utterly useless (a low armor melee hero with a Death wizard who cannot heal) and it would have a huge problem : If the hero dies, you lose the pick. Also, it would be something you almost always would take with specific other picks (Life books, Famous and Tacticians), it wouldn't be a versatile pick.
