REM goes on the Sudric Express [Pitboss 33 spoilers]

So as I said, I'm on my own in this war now. Still nothing that cannot be dealt with. I have a well defensible spot to sit on.

This turn... I took canaries. More losses than I would have liked, but I have been fortunate in previous turns with combat odds, so I am overdue some unlucky rolls. I lost pretty much every 50%, and could have perhaps had better odds if I waited a turn or 2, but this would have slowed me getting the units back.

So I lost 5(!) inf to kill 3 inf 3 rifles and an airship. Roughly an equal hammer trade, although he did loose obsolete units in it. Only 1 inf that didn't enter combat.... Scary stuff.

I do now have a galleon in position to reenforce silkmoths with another 3 infantry in my turn next turn, which are lightly damaged. The plan is pretty much to stack Silkmoths so Drey4E takes peace. Actually I forgot to move my cavalry into the city, which I will go back in to do shortly. I'm happy with my gains, 3 cities which are all good cities, and actually reduces my exposure to future attacks really due to him not having a coastal city on that water body now.

I'm weary of him countering. Now he has peace with Scooter, he can rejig himself to try and attack back. This ideally would be done pre Silkmoths coming out of revolt. I say this because he has kept an inf stack on the forest hill in range of silkmoths, and there are large numbers of cavalry moving this way. My saving Grace is that he does not have an easy way to bomb down my units in Silkmoths. Only cats is in range for airship bombs, and so unless he builds a couple of forts on his land it will just be 4 airship strikes that he gets. I on the other hand, have yaks and the scooter island city in range of his staging tile on the forest hill, and can use Scooter cities to stack airships as they have no OBs. However should they suddenly open 1 cav could move quickly to take out all my airships. Needing to keep cautious here. Currently all out of range should they open pre next turn.

I am not burning the roads yet as he has enough workers that he could stack them on that forest hill and be able to attack anyway when he has more units in range. Currently I would need 3 cav to do this, of which 1 would remain outside the city. I don't want to burn them unless I have to. I now have a medic in the city tile also, so should start to heal the units up much quicker. He has 3 turns to make a move before I come out of revolt!

As I reached a decent end point in the war, I offered white peace. If he declines and doesn't reoffer I know he will be coming for me and can react accordingly. If he does, brilliant. I am city and tech leader! I also offered white peace to DZ, and nothing has been happening on that front in a long time. I doubt he will take it though, he will probably want out ASAP.

I get 2 new settlers EoT. One for a filler city between Edward and Percy, settled in 2 turns. It creates a canal there, and gets either 2 or 3 unique tiles, plus the free SoL spec. The second was for the cities above Silkmoths, although these are on hold now until a resolution in the Drey4E conflict.

Tech wise 3 turns to railroad, at which point I will be left with 200 gold. I don't think scooter has enough gold to reach railroad, but now out of war if he turns on wealth builds then he possibly could quite easily. This is the reason I want to end the conflicts. Wealth builds, and grocers for the health boost to get ready from the malus of hooking up oil. Burn hammers into tech until I have the mix of combustion/industrialism/flight, then try and take more land from one of the smaller Pind/BGN guys, probably pind. His coast is wide open to me and he has a minimal military currently. He has just got assembly line too, so hopefully will spend most of the next few turns getting factories rather than units.

Any requests for images when I go back in?

I also have 2GGs sitting around. I could place both in the cap for 11 xp units, or I am contemplating unlocking West Point. To do this I have to place him on a 6+xp unit with a free promo. Essentially a privateer from a drydock or marine from the cap. Not sure if it is worth it, but I can build it in the cap in like 2 turns if I stack enough overflow.

No I haven't actually bothered to build any stables at all... I didn't expect cavalry to be that viable or useful after getting to infantry. I feel that I was very incorrect in that thinking now. I haven't actually got a stable anywhere, but am using vassalage to get to 2 promos on the cavalry.

Waiting for a turn... And CivStats showed that Scooter has taken a DZ city - certainly the border one. I've no idea whether they managed to get it cheaply or not as he was stacking inf in the other city so it may have been a moderate take, but with him not being able to counter and a peace treaty with Drey4E a nice take of a decent city.

It won't even be culture swamped like the others - drey4e already have a revolt on in one of the taken cities and they are dealing with 5-10% revolt risks in 3 cities thanks to me preventing them finishing the DZ war. Makes me more hopeful they will want to finish the job of killing him rather than cont warring with me.

Ack. Issues. Scooter must have pushed a lot of wealth/sci builds last turn to get railroad in. I am just over a turn of tech from getting it still. I think we will get combustion around the same time as my economy and production are both a bit stronger, unless I start getting rick rolled back by Drey4E with him focussing troops on me.

The worry is Scooter joining in with Drey4E. I kept a few units back in Yaks last turn just in case, and he has parked a 6 move galleon right outside it. I've got some inf that I will garrison it with this turn, but I am vulnerable whilst they are in revolt without any cultural defense, and he has amphibious units. I have at least got the hill defence going. What would be even worse is if he decided to pass through Yaks and sit around the borders with Pind which is fairly demiliterised... On that coast I only have 2 cities than can be hit, Yaks in revolt and my newish city on Pinds border.

I would also suffer hugely from loss of routes, with more cities to fill, less trading partners (BGN routes are poor given the fairly recent war), and a big net import figure. Still slightly behind on soliders but it seems that Drey4E are going on a factory binge. That might sway them enough to give me peace and enable me to shore up my borders. We shall see in a day or 2 when I get to play.

So Drey4E do not want peace it seems. They look like they are lining up to retry on silkmoths. They have 8 inf 11 cav that can hit this turn, although I have more units covering than that. Looks like he is planning to wait a turn and then try with some seige, although it is only a cannon and 2 cats. If he waits a turn he can have around 1 cannon/2cats/4airship/15cav/12inf/3 rifles.

I can actually more or less match that. I currently have more units than he can hope to use so he cannot capture this turn. Then next turn, now that I have railroad, I can move my units from Yaks which has just come out of revolt in with some new railroads. I have a worker ready to finally give me coal access (this will cause -2 food in Percy/Gordon and -1 food in James, not too bad as it goes). I will be able to make 3 railroads in that area, and there are 4 tiles between there and Yaks. I also have some units on a galleon, and pictures to put up at some point.

The rest of his cavalry have gone the other way interestingly. If everything had come this way, then I think I would have had a problem. Is he trying to finish off DZ? He is running the slider at 10% to combat happiness issues and some cities are still having problems. Amusingly, DZ gave me peace and then wanted to buy corn off me. If he gives me open borders I can cause huge problems for Drey4E over there. Suddenly there will be a large army able to use DZs road network and strike multiple culture crushed cities. They may regret not taking the white peace offered now. I offered just OB for OB, and then a load of resources for his stockpiled 80 gold. Hopefully he should take.

So if DZ opens his borders, Drey4E have a real problem. They will not be able to end that war and kill him off whilst I am still at war with them. Suddenly peace with me becomes a priority to relieve happy issues and therefore... expensive. I can sit at war with him quite happily currently, I have no WW issues myself, and nowhere that I could otherwise empty.

Scooter seems to not want to declare war at all as he played before me this turn, and is not even causing headaches with ship placements.

BGN I cannot decide over, and I counted out possible moves and with that free MP on ships I bolstered a few border cities. Cannot see any galleons, but no point taking risks.

Filler ready to plant next turn, and BGN making a risky venture on my northern border. Changed things around so now borders will pop 3rd ring there in 3 turns, so he cannot steal my deer food there.

I can get combustion in 3 turns @ 100%, loosing 260gpt with no wealth/Research builds. I have around 600 gold. A small amount of wealth/research building should make that 3t to combustion nailed on. I would imagine that this is at least as fast as Scooter could hope to get it even with extreme GNP builds.

Some pics when I have time after I have had chance to do 27. Looking very good here.

The main choice this turn if I am right in my assumption that Drey4E is coming next turn is do I let him try, or just burn the roads. I will take WW from the attack and will loose some units but I just can't see them making much of a dent and so it might be nice to reduce their solider counts.

They were still that same 20k ahead on the turn roll. They have now started a lot of factory builds however.

So. Manic few days. Quick look in. I don't get what Drey4E are up to. They haven't moved to put an attack in on Silkmoths. Maybe they are still trying to cover Cats? But I'm never going to be able to take it with my current forces and their current forces. Plus they aren't going to be able to use the siege there before I get border pop now.

But I sold DZ a lot of resources for all his gold and GPT. Once I get oil in 3t he can have my coal too for his power plant. I also have OBs. With Drey4E needing to run the slider to keep happiness in check, there is going to be a price for them finishing the war with DZ... I can sit in his city with cavs and threaten a lot of cities too.

No time to play out and think about all my different turns nevermind post pics! Realised something sneaky this turn. I can sit in zoth omagog with cavalry which cannot be hit by airships as the defending infantry will take precedence, and threaten 3 cities that DZ has had captured.

Not much I can do with them though.

Was gonna try and get cash for peace but they are 90% gold 10% culture and making 26gpt?! They're broke. No cash to extort really...
