[Spoilers] Mini PBEM tournament, part 1

El Grillo got the Hanging Gardens rather late. I often forget about this wonder because it doesn't show up as a possibility until you have an aqueduct. But that was definitely a good play from him.

My knights are starting to show up, there's been a second one popping this turn and a lot more in production. I've decided that since GE is really lagging I'm not going to whip my empire to exhaustion to hasten the process. The army will be ready when it's ready.

I just put 10% into my EP, to get research visibility on both GE and Khan.

Also it turns out that El Grillo (I think) got the music GA a long time ago which is annoying as hell. I'll have to rethink my strategy.

I'm going to attack GE next turn at his gems city. I currently have about 12 knights ready to attack and I think he doesn't have anything better than spears against them

This attack will go slowly.







As you can see I have city visibility on several Khan cities and on Selsey. That should come in handy.

In actual troop counts I can't take any of GE's two front cities for now but I can get inside his lines and take the cities behind it before he gets feudalism. Maybe even up to the capital.

Edit : Actually scrap that I'd like to crack Canterbury, so I'm going to wait a turn for my skirms to catch up and then I'll attack with the 13 knights and 8 skirms. I think it should be enough to take the city, albeit with heavy losses.

Khan is worrying me a bit. His score is inflated by the wonders he built (Parthenon and S Paya lately) but he finished teching nationalism and I assume he's going to get a MoM fueled Taj GA. I'm not sure what he can use it on but he's definitely back on track and I can only hope that my conquest eventually help me more than his wonder play.

Yeah, but there was literally no time to build them (I got construction the turn after guilds IIRC)

Despite getting some above average RNG I come just short of taking the city...




Frustrating but still a good sign

City is conquered but GE is whipping LBs now...




And of course it's bis repetita in the north




With 1 more knight I'd have killed the HA and the skirms could have cleaned up the wounded.

Next turn I'll put myself in position to take GE's southern city with 10 knights. LB behind walls on a hill are a pain though.

Oh and El Grillo built the AP, which I think is a waste of hammers but what do I know, I'm third on the scoreboard.
