Is Civ3 worth buying at this stage?

Civ3 complete is currently on sale for $1.24 on the steam store, and I am tempted to pick it up just so that I can understand civ4's design decisions like WFYABTA. However, is it still worth a purchase today if I already own civ4 and 5? The price is so low, but on the other hand I have seen numerous people bashing it for outdated design and am worried that it will feel broken and unpolished.

I've bought the game, but modern games have spoiled me when it comes to tooltips and I have no idea what is going on. Do you know of any good resources for learning the game?

You can look at civ-fanatics which still has a war-academy for Civ3 up and read there.
Or you can look at our Epics of old here and read some reports (Sirian, Sulla,T-hawk, Urugharakh for example) but the pictures are most likely all gone by now

Another way is T-hawks page but again the picture are most likely gone too.

And of course Sulla's page is a great source.

Oh man, I upgraded space on my web host a few years ago now but forgot to ever put those back. I'll look into it tonight. Although those writings are so totally amateur and cringeworthy now, like they came from some snotty college kid...

I did and civ1 (as is civ2) is still fun, but it could benefit from overflow, pollution removal, rally points, etc.
Rapture growth never gets old.

Wow, they're actually back up! I assumed these were lost forever in some server thing, but now both these and Sulla's are up after decades of Sirian's reports being the only really complete ones online. What a boon for future lonely Civ3 obsessors like myself
