picklepikkl embarks on the Fool's Journey

I realized that Cuirassiers require Gunpowder, so we 1ted that tech with the overflow and 60% science. Going to produce some muskets and knights while we tech to MilTrad, then Cuirs until Rifling, then turn off research for a bit, do a lot of upgrades, and enact Plan Murder. Jowy's wonderspam makes such a delicious target... Taj is on its way, though it might take a while. I have four workers chopping for it, but I do worry about getting sniped by one of the Industrious players, if they beelined Nat.

Sian is currently tops in Power. I really think he's going to stab greenline. He also took the resources trade, which is nice though nonessential. I'd feel better if I could see his research like my EP says I ought to.

Alphabet will allow you to work out what he is getting.

I'm not going to waste a turn of research on Alphabet any time soon. I will just sit here and be annoyed about Espionage being full of failure instead.

greenline built the Apostolic Palace and is researching Divine Right. I guess he's going full Abrahamic? That's kind of neat. Next year in Dolphin-Jerusalem. I do expect Sian to declare on him any turn now, though.

Next turn is a round number, so I'll stop being lazy and will do a picture dump.

Well you need it for printing press which you will be getting in like 2-3 techs, so it might be worth sprigging for it a little early.

Oh huh, you're right. I had been looking at the Civ 4 wiki, which does not mention that Alphabet is required for Printing Press, but when I checked the BTS tech tree at CivFanatics it gave the lie.

Thanks!

T100

Turned research on this turn. We're going to 1t Aesthetics and then overflow into Literature at 0% next turn. University builds are starting to finish, and chops are going in to Taj.

City-by-city breakdown under the spoiler.

An almost-fully-improved cottage cheese Bureaucademy cap. That river plains probably should have been improved sooner, but the forest is getting chopped and a cottage will go up. After the University, building a Jewish Temple for the +2h, then on to military builds until Oxford is available.

After the Monastery finishes, building another Jewish Temple here, then on to military. Probably should give the grass hill back to the capital so this city's food numbers come out even, but that's a longer-term concern.

Deforestation continues. Other cities had higher base hammers, but I needed to deforest High Priestess anyway for the sake of giving me an eventual attack vector on Jowy with fastmovers. Hopefully nobody ninjas Taj, but the research visibility I have should protect me from that.

National Epic goes here, obviously. I wish I could pull one food out of the air so I could work the gems tile, but it's probably not worth the decrease in GPP production. I wonder if I can produce enough Great People, between this city and first-to bonuses, to chain 3 GAs in a row? That'd probably win me the game outright if I could manage it.

Pretty happy with this tile configuration; gave the bananas away once this city ran out of good tiles to improve. Will likely swap engineer to a scientist once the University is done, depending on how the numbers look for sustained military production.

Moai city, I love you so much. I wonder how my rivals' Moais compare?

Nothing to write home about. This city exists to fill space on the isthmus.

This city worked out a lot better than I expected; we are winning the culture war and have full second-ring control. Those delicious flood plains...

Fishing village. Whipping in basic infrastructure. I love not being happiness-constrained.

See previous entry.

Good land food tiles make up for orphaning the crabs by founding here and not 1 tile east, which I did so as to not waste the river grass.

Jowy's Buddhism spread into this city before my missionary made it over. I might take advantage of that to build a monastery and try to get a fourth religion into The Fool for the extra bonus science, which is worth more to me than the 1gpt is to Jowy.

Overview shots of the empire and borders! Here's the northwest, where the Promised Land is, as appropriate, a heated cultural battleground. The highlighted tile is the marble, which nobody has improved.

Northeastern border, where I would like to burn Bumbo to the ground and am aided in this goal by lots of Espionage Points.

Eastern heartland:

Center and west:

Here's that stack of Knights I mentioned Sian having:

Speaking of which, here's the Power graphs. greenline, pay attention and build pikes, you're about to get rekt!

And finally, general demographics:

In conclusion: I feel OK. Whether I can make anything happen at Cavalry, the way I failed to with Knights, is obviously the make-or-break factor of my game.

Yeah, the BTS techs always sound completely jarring. Also, thanks for the comprehensive t100 summery, but any chance we could also have a look at the other graphs?
Surprise! Turns out I'm a girl!

It's Sid. The namesake of the games.

Well, Sid should go back to designing games and let the professionals do the voice-acting.

Graphs! From T101, since that makes more sense.
