[LURKERS] Mr. Gradgrind's Review

I feel like that's sort of the point of running air raids though. If you can't keep your core cities away from a large airforce, and don't have your own fighters/AA to intercept, I think you kind of deserved to get bombed. Much like if you can't keep an enemy navy away you deserve to get bombarded or if you can't keep ground troops out you deserve to be pillaged.

Only the resources are important because they're in unnaturally low supply on this map.

I don't think matters because player-2 still has an unfair edge. He can overule the governor and repair while player-1 cannot.

I've just noticed that's very unlikely that both sides of the war could bomb random improvements. So Brick could just make the attacker play first in turn-order.

And we are off!

I think, if Brick still thinks that 1-2-1 takes too long everything else won't work; so the best we can do is scooter's idea of just banning strategic bombing. (My gimmick won't work because it requires the mod to do too much, fluffball gives player 2 an unfair advantage and everything else would take too much time too.)

Quote:REM's peace terms to Dreylin sound very reasonable to me. That gets the Khmer staggered peace treaties w/ him & Germany, and allows them to finish off Donovan. Instead they're... staying at war and also giving up several cities back to India? What the heck?

Yeah, that peace seemed very favourable to me. 350g is a pittance at this stage.

Still, it's a lot easier for us reading the others threads, when you've just been dogpiled you naturally think everyone is out to get you. You have to love this reasoning.

Quote:The less developed city is the less we suffer when we lose it.

lol

Btw, Scooter is also making a big mistake doing nothing to keep REM in check IMO.

I'd concur. If there isn't a dogpile of some sort or another in a dozen turns, REM's got this. And it's really painful to dogpile someone with modern navy.

I get the impression Scooter is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't at this point, from a military point of view. He has to tech up to keep up with REM if he wants to be able to field a modern navy comparable to REM and he has much less ability to tech up and simultaneously build military than REM does.

What I think he should be doing is rather talking more with Dreylin diplomatically about the possibility of aligning against REM and putting together a timetable for that... which is perhaps what was meant. They need to be able to demilitarize their Dreylin borders (to some degree) to be able to have a hope of stopping REM. They probably also need airships to be able to confirm they aren't going to get stabbed.

Nothing says "let's be friends" like a gift of a half dozen C2 destroyers. But I don't think Scooter is quite that pitch-and-toss.

My two inital thoughts were:

1. Find a city of REM's and burn it, even if it's costly. Send Dreylin a clear message.

2. If you've identified that he's going to attack pindicator, don't pick off the scraps, be ready to prop him up. We've just seen how effectively that worked with Donovan.

In general though, as Commodore says, you need to do something now. Don't just wait and hope for a miracle.
