I do, however, find Gaz and Fenn discarding Doctor and Backup Doctor INCREDIBLY suspicious. Both are highly beneficial to Town. Backup Doctor, I feel, is an even more significant discard than Doctor, because it had half the probability of being drawn than a regular Doctor, according to the list in the original post.

Thus, from a strategic standpoint, a backup doctor is more valuable to town than any other role except doctor. So, Fenn has my vote.

I don’t quite understand your reasoning here. Backup doctor is more unlikely to draw, but how does that then make discarding it more suspicious? Why vote Fenn over me?

I see discarding a role that makes it harder for scum to break through town's protections, assuming a strongarm wasn't chosen, would be more beneficial to town, and if I were faced with that as one of my pick options, I would only pass it up for full Doctor.

I find your discarding of Doctor slightly less suspicious than Fenn's discarding Backup Doc because it has a 33.3% chance of being given to more than one player, and an argument could be made that you chose another role over Doctor, with the knowledge that someone else would have the option to take up the role in your stead, meaning town still has protection.

It was my understanding that Backup Doctor only gets doctor powers after a real doctor dies, i.e. if there are no Doctors, Backup Doctors is useless. I admit I was thinking selfishly when I made my ordering choice; I would only have any powers on the night after a Doctor died, and only if I hadn't died first - admittedly not particularly likely, but possible, and apart from my first game I haven't lived very long on average. Let's just say that I figured my 1st choice was more useful to me and to town than Backup Doctor.

I guess I can see that reasoning.

Prometheus and Rowain also stand out with VT as their displayed discards, which is pretty optimal if you want to play as scum. (Of course, there could also be players who wanted to be scum but didn't have VT as one of their options. )

The reason I put VT as my second choice was because I'd rather play vanilla town my first game than Lover. Yes, that is my second discard.

I'd like some more presence from Prometheus. He hasn't offered anything beside an unorthodox view on backup doctor.

We'll have to disagree on Doctor's importance Prometheus. And if somebody given Doctor could discard it in good conscience, thinking that somebody else would pick Doctor, why couldn't I do the same? I'm not convinced there's an advantage to Town in having a Doctor + Backup Doc as opposed to a Doctor and any moderately good role that is active from the start.

Would like to hear more from Meiz, he's been quiet so far.

Gazglum, did you consider ranking doctor as your third choice? Aren't you afraid that you'll be killed off on N1?

I did consider it, but knowing I wasn't guaranteed to get my first choice, I couldn't pass by doctor completely. I wasn't sure how likely it was that we would go to second choices, but I didn't want to play it too clever and end up (relatively) empty-handed.

As for fear, that is always present Zak.

Don't hide behind me, my friend, we discarded that role. And after all, aren;t two doctors twice as good as one? I didn't make my decision on the likelihood of someone else picking doctor, I don't think that logic makes much sense.

But I agree that there are plenty of roles better than backup doctor.

Just as a heads up, neither I nor Prometheus will be active before deadline tomorrow. I got roped into taking my nephews to an amusement park, and I'm taking Prometheus with me. We will likely be leaving at t-4h or so, though he might post some from his phone during the drive. I should be able to handle the resolution, though an actual fancy writeup will have to wait until later in the evening when I get back.
