So even with the prospect of a Dutch invasion, I moved the army forward since this is the best way to get further ahead. If gavagai attacks, whip everything since I changed some of the builds in the cities to military, gather all the siege and the huge knight stack into one army and hope for the best.

Also how much impact would you say the castles would make on your economy? How long does it take for them to pay off?

I didn't think about how fast the harbors and castles payoff honestly but the combo is surprisingly good if you have a lot of cities. They doubled my gpt at 0%.

I only had one turn, so I tried to carry out your suggestions as best I could. I did queue Jewish Temples in a few cities, which I was planning to whip ASAP. They cost 32H at the moment, even less in cities with Forges, so will easily pay back their cost.

Zanth declared war on 2metra, so you may have an opening there in a few turns. REM has a decent stack in Berlin. You could probably fork his NE spot while moving Catapults up. Zanth attacking 2metra also meant that I researched Banking instead of Gunpowder.

I do kind of wish that you did not mess up with the city micro and builds since for some of the cities temples are not worth it and I was deliberately ignoring food for hammers. For example, I think Katana was building a knight? and I was using that city to exclusively whip cats. Also any city that is working 16H can 2t a temple. Maybe I should have built temples and monasteries sooner so those cities have 20 base hammers?
I do want to know actually why you like windmills so much. Maybe I am missing something because I prefer making mines for hills and working enough food to feed the miners.

I took berlin this turn losing a lot of knights and I kind of regretting not waiting for cats but I wanted cultural control faster. Too bad the moai city has a lot of culture as well.
