Not sure what Dreylin had in range (didn't bother running recon). Couple caveats.

1) I had pretty terrible RNG in this attack yet again. I would have expected at least 2 more victories given even odds.

2) Had I played the last turn seriously (notice I knocked it out in 20 mins, and that was with stepping away for 5 mins), I would have moved my Frigates to a spot where they would have been able to hit this tile. I would have suicided them into your top defenders, and that may have swung a few more fights too. Granted, repositioning them may have caused you to call off your attack. I was very aware of the possibility I would lose access to my fort (hence my comment about the Frigates), although I didn't know a Paratrooper could raze a fort like that. That's really odd.

So... I don't know. I did have a lot of units on boats that were able to react. Judging from your screenshot, I think I had enough to stop this particular attack(basically all my Galleons + my transport were loaded and able to get on rails). Although it was a moot point - you had it won anyway. Feel free to log into my civ and take a look. Password is "monty"

If the frigates could have hit I wouldn't have gone for it either. I would have sat back and waited for a different opportunity. I was surprised that a paratrooper could raze after landing... I had visions of running them everywhere for razes, although that is an expensive way to raze (but worth it if it kills a single oil/fort)

You can log into me if you want with 'herewego' the war weary that you see only took effect last turn after the attack. I was throwing it up in my head and if I pushed this attack I would have gone for PS soon. If not I would have sucked up the few faces currently, got the broadway and Effiel towers etc and used them for happy faces. Also note I had no builds selected last turn. I felt after radio there aren't any major military increases for quite a while and I could build away.

Really surprised the carrierdefended frown

I wanted to land a killer blow, but not cripple myself doing so!

GG everyone! And thanks GJ for posting the official end ASAP since I wasn't free enough this weekend to do so.

I agree, would have been very touch and go whether I could have razed anything. I think I probably could have got one city using everything, but it would not have been worth the hammers. Misread how many units you had left still. Would you have pulled anything out of aspirin? I was waiting to see whether I could hit you through DZ with tanks on RRs I built in him. I would have wanted about 11-12 units left there before I seriously considered it.

THanks for setting up the game Brick, and dealing with horrible admin queries. Top job. Mostly my fault too, I'm sorry.

Fair enough--I remember with the last report (on T301) we were just waiting to see if you would attack, and seeing if we could get Factories/Coal Plants done beforehand. Then I bring up possibly logging in about a week and a half later to get pictures, and Mardoc informed me we were in a turn split with you, and that's about where things ended (as I didn't have time right then to navigate turn splits, and then I didn't want to get depressed with our presumably bad position tongue ). I will say our thread is good, at least until then--don't let the 2+ months of inactivity dissuade you smile

I probably would have taken a couple units from Aspirin, but I knew I couldn't afford to take much out. I was constantly paranoid that you'd build a bunch of rails and try it again. If the game went on longer, I thought that front was my only chance to hurt you. But the actual "chance" was very low. Basically if I felt the game was likely to drag on I was very close to saying screw-it and swapping into the full military civics and building Panzers everywhere. It would have destroyed my tech pace, but what other choice did I have?

I don't think it would have been enough, though. Doing that with no air support would be suicide. Otherwise I would have tried it sooner.

I agree. I have never used air units competitively and they are horrifically powerful. Stating what you were going to do I probably would have abandoned that naval assault, and gone for a land war against Dreylin. I would have popped out a few bombers, and with him being quite far from fighters, I think that it would have been very difficult for him to do much to me whilst I attacked with that tank stack. Although then again, I really underestimated the impact of cannon when going for Pind. They ripped me to shreds.

Dreylin may not have been as far from having fighters as you thought. Once I had built up enough for my own defenses I had thought about moving them around the map to run interception missions once our ten turns off peace were up. I don't have time to play long war turns but I can fly planes around and press I. lol Glad it didn't come to that, though. I really didn't want to get back into the war, but the qotm did come out of our thread. smile

GG all, and congrats REM. Looking forward to reading some threads to see what everyone else was doing while I was doing everything except building cities for the first half of the game. smoke
