Bob, isn't it two words for them vs one for us???

Err, I don't think so? Aren't these games usually 9 words for the starting team, and 8 for whichever goes second? That's how the last one worked, at least...

Ok, I just remembered wrong then I guess. One second.... (Phone)

Bob, check post 87. Suggests we win at 7, right?

Yeah, I saw that. I think Red team is confused. Codenames 12 & 13 were indeed 9/8 word games. I haven't bothered to check through the rest of the archives, but I'm fairly certain none of the games have been 8/7 words. Red (who went first) currently has 6 words, as do we, so unless I'm even worse at math then I thought they need to guess 3, and we need 2.

I guess I'm just either reading 87 wrong or it was just mistaken, but I see Codenames 2 setup does say 9-8.

EDIT: I think my preference is String - Mercury - Pass - Conductor - Dragon

Yeah, Red team probably shouldn't have passed, since they have three words left to guess instead of two, but I wasn't particularly inclined to correct our opponents when they were making an unforced error. They can still win though if rho can make an easy pair and they figure out their missing "fingering" word, so we're taking a major risk if we pass. Buuut we're also taking *two* major risks if we try to guess our way to victory now, so... noidea

I like String and Mercury as well and would guess them over taking a pass.

Eh, I wouldn't worry about it. I confess I wasn't paying particularly close attention to the numbers either.
I still don't think passing was an error: we were well ahead, we were never going to win on that round no matter what, and we weren't too confident in our next guess. Passing gives rho the opportunity to correct us if we've gone astray, and lets Blue eliminate some choices for us.
