Now, now, I'm pretty sure the number 7 does exist in other contexts. It's just missing when you're talking about the PBEM list.
On topic, I like your list, DaveV. Only slight worry is that by picking leaders who can win, that removes a possible excuse if we don't .

How about 'things typically found in groups of seven'? Colors, Octaves, Deadly Sins...
Or to fit this game...'things that are slow': tortoises, Friday Afternoons, Walking, Molasses
Or I guess we could go for something more inspiring.

My initial thought was that since this is the "Big" game, actors from the movie Big: Tom Hanks, Elizabeth Perkins, etc.
