It's depressing that a large strategy game in its final stage doesn't let its players do something as simple as play a multiplayer game on a custom map.

Edit : random idea n°138, I'll play a few turns of a hotseat game then save it and try to load it.

One last suggestion is to run the vcredist file as admin from Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\VCRedist

Indeed. Civ5 has a lot of rough edges after all these years

Ah I've found something. I can load my own hotseat saves. And when I click on which DLC are used for our game it says we're using gods and kings, brave new world, spain+inca and a mysterious "upgrade data 1". Could it be because I don't have this mysterious DLC ?

Edit : nope, my own hotseat save also has that listed as DLC

If you can load your own saves, it seems like it's not the cloud sync problem suggested by all solutions we tried so far. Just in case, can you double check you have no mods active? Also, try running that vcredist file as an admin - it may be version conflict of various vc redistributables

Also, highly unlikely to be a problem as you reinstalled the game today, but can you confirm the version number displayed in the main menu screen is 1.0.3.279?

I literally have no mods installed, let alone active. I just ran the vcredist and I'll try one last time.

We will need to decide what to do tomorrow, when tonight's frustration reduces... this appears to be a random problem on Adrien's system, but I have no idea if we will be able to solve it at this point
