I think we made the right choice by not banning the Lanun. They seem to be doing very well, but nowhere near overpowered.

Yup, agreed. And they don't really have any crazy shit later on (i.e. UU/UB/Hero/Worldspell) like some of the other civs have. It's fine.

OTOH I seriously didn't know that you couldn't build fort canals in FFH2 though. That's really lame, and I'm baffled about why Kael would deliberately remove that mechanic. Its especially annoying because I actually went through the map, before sending it out, to make sure that all bodies of water were canalable to each other, but I guess that was a pointless effort, arrgh! Cultists indeed might be a bit overpowered here, but I guess we'll see. Shouldn't be too bad, right?

edit: Oh good, Q clarified that fortable canals *are* in v12, so enabled for this game!

Game seems to be about to turn interesting, if only the players manage to get better at reporting.

I think TBS is optimistic about being able to catch up, thanks to the elven economy. His expansion has been poor and his map knowledge isn't that good, and his economy seems quite poor (+29 gpt@0%).

DaveV and Ellimist have followed opposite strategies: vertical and teching for Ellimist and horisontal expansion for DaveV. So far DaveV have been quite focused on growing rapidly but safely, but his new city plant is very aggressive, and might come off to bite him, probably sooner rather than earlier.

It's also quite amusing that right now they are in a literal race for the Great Lighthouse. We will have to see which Engineer reaches their target city first 

The lack of clues between Ellimist and DaveV regarding their war is also interesting.

DaveV's actions of the past day are incredibly disappointing and discouraging. He's an experienced player who knows better, or at least ought to know better.
I'm waiting to see how the other players who voted for the "no diplomacy at all" rules will respond. I'm honestly considering whether to resign in protest if this is tolerated.
It's tempting to write a detailed criticism of DaveV's tactical and strategic mistakes, which is something I usually avoid due to the difficulty of doing so respectfully. I firmly believe he could have done considerably better in a fight versus me if he had made several decisions differently.

(I don't know how bad illusionary elephants are so I cannot say anything about this. I can still watch.)
