OK, if we can't get pronunciation clarification, then I would strongly favor NOVEL, TABLET, and AMAZON before we touch ENGLAND.

I'm happy with that order. England is a bit of a risk, in case DaveV didn't know the city or hadn't thought of the other pronunciation. On the other hand, it's also a reason for that particular clue, as opposed to Read or Book or something.

I assume Dave was going for both an England and literature reference with the word.

Shoot, sorry guys. Kind of a risky clue there.

I was going for MUG as the fourth word for Reading: you sit in the coffee shop or in your easy chair, perusing the newspaper, with your favorite beverage at your side. I should have thought of the city name, but didn't.

I was trying to knock out Mug so I could clue Beijing: 2 next round, to try to bring you back to Ninja. I considered Legendary instead of Mythical for the first round, but was afraid that could lead in too many other directions.

16 threads later, the assassin strikes again frown If it's any consolation, the English city name would never have crossed my mind.

ARGGH! When this is over, we should have a game of Europeans versus Americans so that we have cultural touchstones all the same. Even if I did think of Reading as a location, it would be Pennsylvania more than England.

What was Atom cluing?

FWIW I'd have never come up with England either, although Novel 4 vs Novel 3 did make it tricky.
