Also, if we can't find a mapmaker we could always play on the same map again - full map reveal and knowledge could create some interesting different strategies & dynamics...

With only Khan left to reply, and this entire 2-tiered game being his idea, I suspect it's going to go forward.

I would also strongly prefer a new map. My personal preference is that I'd like a map where it's less obvious who's "supposed" to get how much land (generally a more natural-looking map, though PBEM 65 had a cool setup I liked), but obviously semi-mirroring is much easier to balance, so I won't kick up a fuss.

@Drey: It would be churlish to hand you a rough spot in round 1 and then kick you out of a chance to start at an even position in round 2, though I'm afraid you'll walk all over us lol.

Would it be possible to take maps from previous PBEMs with fun, balanced maps ? And choose them so that none of us have played in that particular PBEM so we don't start with an advantage. That would probably require less work.

Wow, I honestly was not expecting such a quick turnaround time. I'd be fine with a previous map, a new handmade map, or someone rolling some Torusworlds smile
