gaming consoles

So i'm thinking of getting a gaming console for christmas but apart from one i found in the local market when i was very litle, i've never had one so i have no ideea what to get.  I don't even know what games i want to play.(not fifa at any rate)

I'd like to play "the last guardian" when it comes out but i'd rather not get a console just for the one decent game.
Can you guys share your opinions on the matter?

Thanks!

My view is you need to get an idea at least on what style of games you want to play with it, then we could advise based on that.

What makes you think you need a console other than the last guardian?

i've never had one and i wanna try it out. That's the gist of it!
Let me rephrase my original question: What do you guys think is the best option going by the games that are or will be out?

I'm not into sports games or wii stuff but everything else i may try.

I think that the difference is:

Controllers - xbox better
console - ps4 better
games - pretty close, probably ps4
multimedia support - xbox
just has VR released if you wanted that later - ps4
overall - ps4

honorable mention for cool retroness - nintendo classic mini

the ps4 controller has the joysticks bottom left and bottom right, the xbox one has them bottom right and top left. its a more comfortable system

console wise the graphics cards are the main difference:
ps4 video card:
AMD Radeon "Liverpool"
1152 shaders @ 800 MHz (1.84 TFLOP/s)
25.6 Gpixel/s, 57.6 Gtexel/s

xbox card:
AMD Radeon "Durango"
768 shaders @ 853 MHz (1.31 TFLOP/s)
13.6 Gpixel/s, 40.9 Gtexel/s

so... the ps4 is better? (i have no ideea what those numbers imply wink )

Which exclusives do you want? How good of a TV are you playing on? Do you have any investment in one of the two infrastructures (Sony vs Microsoft--Nintendo doesn't really have one yet)? How good is your PC, and is it Windows 10? How long are you willing to wait (immediate buy, holidays, early next year, holidays next year)? What's your budget?
