It would seem that I missed something last turn:
Lion baiting on hold for now; moving some back to intercept.

Lots of stuff going on here:
Warriors moving to intercept the incoming Barb, one from Salinero & one adjacent to Valegro. Note that we got a Forest spread onto the highlighted Plains Hill last turn (which I didn't notice at the time). Valegro is working max hammers (at the expense of the Oasis and Silk) to provide a 2t Warrior if things go awry.
Settler is on the way to the 3rd City site - to be called Bonfire - but unfortunately I couldn't get the Roads to line up and get her there a turn early. Worker has completed partial Roads and will start Cottaging next turn once Education is in. Warrior pair have moved back from the Gold Hill since the tile 2SW of Bonfire was fogged.
After Education I'll save gold for a couple of turns to keep an Event stock and then run through to Mining (which should be pretty fast). Silks are ready to come online next turn to cover the city Growth.
With the forest growth at Salinero, I think it will make sense for my next Settler to come from there; it can make 8hpt at size 5 working the Wheat Farm, Deer, Reagents, PFH & taking the Plains Forest from Valegro. Valegro can use its Food surplus to push out another Worker.

Alright, change of plan:
Changed my mind about attacking for 2 reasons: 1) the next Barb hewing over the Southern horizon, and 2) in the 50% likelihood I needed to move out the MP Warrior to take out the Barb, the city loses 2Happy for a turn (assuming I win and the Worker connects the Silk), whereas leaving the MP in I'm guaranteed to only lose 1Happy from the unconnected Silk. Not ideal, but then neither would losing the Capital.
With Barbs on the rise, I'll finish a few more Warriors before switching to Settler/Worker production. Saving gold for a run through to Mining.

Lost the coinflip on the first Warrior, but did enough damage that the follow-up only gained 1xp:
Sent the remaining free Warrior South and the other healthy will join him next turn once the injured takes the MP spot.
Oh, and I founded Bonfire. Started the Monument straight off, though it will take its time to complete. Worker & Settler dialed up as previously discussed.

Still watching you, just haven't been commenting much.
I'm really interested to see how will cottage economy work for you. What are you planning to do after the fourth city is founded? More settlers or preparing for war?

I have no idea on the Cottage Economy, but I'm starting to have the feeling that I'll miss not having access to Mines/chops in the next few turns, and was it worth getting super-early Cottages over, for example, Horsemen?
After the next city is out, I'm going to work on getting a couple of exploration parties out to scout the immediate neighbourhood - in the absence of Horsemen, maybe I'll try and send a pair of Warriors & a Scout for bonus vs Animals (maybe that should even be next if the Lions doesn't vanish). Continued expansion is the goal; there seems to be plenty of space to expand into before we start to clash borders. That's certainly true E-W, although N-S remains a question.
Without any additional exploration, the 5th city is likely to be NW as I've got pretty good visibility up there and I can share Salinero's Wheat to get off the ground quickly. I got most of that area defogged as the Scout went through, so I'll screenshot the area this turn and start thinking about dotmap.

I got crazy & reckless and did some exploring in the East:
More yummy Pigs. Animal Husbandry moves up the priority queue. (Really hoping the Barb doesn't pillage the Incense...
And here's a pic to look at and consider dotmapping:
2S of the Pigs, borrowing the Wheat and chopping straight into a Monument?

This is not quite the sort of event I'm looking for:
Yeah, so he's Held for 2t ... that'll teach me to go exploring.
Also 2 more incoming Barbs:
Southern one will run into my C1/Shock, and I'm popping another Warrior at Valegro this turn to help intercept the Northern. 2 other Warriors finally getting ready to rid us of the NE Lion ahead of the Worker roading to the new city.

Killed the SW Barb at 96% for 3xp (now 9/10):
NW Barb moved towards Salinero, so I paused the Settler for a turn to pop an extra guard Warrior. NE Warrior pair moved to the hill to take on the Lion, meanwhile our stranded friend in the East is watching forces rise to challenge him - at least he's healing & getting Fortify bonus while stuck there!
