Does anybody have any food we can throw to the creature to occupy it while we pass? he whispers to the group

Niall withdraws a piece of salted meat from his pack, unwraps it, and tosses it toward the animal.

I have 12 rations, so I'll sacrifice one.

The wolverine sniffs suspiciously at the offering, takes an experimental bite, and then retreats to the side.

Need a bluff or handle animal check as you creep by her. Anya, Lucas, and Niall are already fine.

The party carefully moves past the wolverine. Last in line, Elizabeth shifts herself carelessly and slips toward the wolverine. The animal, stressed, releases her stink but doesn't quite attack as Elizabeth continues on. The oracle's ornate hem is doused in rancid musk.

Smelly but unscathed, the party continues on through the deepening maze. There are several side slot canyons that veer off but Lucas and Anya find the horses still fairly easy to track. A small rise in the rocky floor coincides with a rockfall; with some difficulty the party could try and ascend to the upper level of the rocky mesa. The path the party is tracking continues through the maze; up on the plateau top the party should be able to make better time and may be able to discern where their quarry is going, but close tracking would be impossible.

I vote we go up, being constrained like this is just waiting for an ambush to happen.
