Khan's Thread [SPOILERS] A roll of the dice...

I just discovered the new Discord feature and it's amazing. I have found a negative though. I am yet to receive my first turn, Jowy has held it for over 33hours and Discord just keeps reminding me of all the other games Jowy is currently playing at any given moment that aren't Civ.

I appreciate that without Discord I would not have this information and would assume he was working or whatever. It's just frustrating. It's the first turn, it takes 10 seconds to play it. Yes, you want to build a sandbox but surely you've got worker or workboat (if his is similar) first locked down by now? In fact, he does not start with fishing. Send your scout somewhere, choose worker, move the turn on. You don't even need to choose a technology yet. There is no good reason he could not do that and then build the sandbox at any point.

Of course, i'll keep this all to myself because Byzantium yo.

Heathens!

So, REM, where's the lurker money sitting? My prediction is El G, myself, greenline then Jowy. A lot depends on who/when Jowy attacks with cataphracts. I don't have confidence he'll get there with enough of a window to win the game. Jowy's target will likely not win the game either though. I think, in a vacuum, I can beat El G. I just need to keep up my game face.

I only just noticed a few turns ago that I have visibility on a random part of the map that, I believe, is somebody's capital. It certainly looks very similar to mine. It's the other side of the map so I didn't notice this initially whilst moving my scout etc. I suppose I do gain a minor advantage as I can see what tiles people have, but i'm not doing C&D anyhow.

In other news, I met Greenline (not in the visible part of the map), but I didn't show him where I came from as my scout saw his borders but then retreated. He doesn't need to know that info for now. Interestingly, I am not getting all his espionage points so he has met somebody else. Greenline is a decent distance away, as is the unknown party.

My scout has gone wide originally, ideally to try and circle the world for the circumnav bonus. The land is lush, green and the map looks interesting. Good job once again REM!

Bollocks. I tried quite carefully to remove that, although sadly I didn't in a couple of cases. You cannot see the actual city so it is of limited value hopefully.

My lurker money btw is evenly split between you and El G. He is solid, although he is a MP newbie and never really had much of a war so I don't know how well he will war with non AI opponents if needed. You have managed to come back from the dead almost so I think without a setback you should do well.

My thoughts exactly. I feel fairly comfortable at my warring abilities generally. It certainly went well with Adrien last game and with Sian (and to a lesser extent, Bob and GE) in the other game I played. Engaging him in a war will, hopefully, be less harmful to me than to him. My main enemy is impetuosity (is that even a word?). That said, greenline and Jowy should not be ignored. If I focus entirely on El Grillo, they could easily win. They might win regardless but my biased opinion is that they will not.

Map is brilliant REM, thank you.

Just what was ordered, not mirrored, but seems overall pretty balanced. I finished Bronze Working at end of turn and found copper...exactly where my second city was about to be planted (in 3 turns). Going to take a little time to consider whether I want to move the city. Grass hill copper is a very nice tile. However, the opportunity cost is to make my second food tile require a border pop. I could get a worker to pre-chop a forest and get a monument asap, but that has it's own costs (delaying pottery, thus granaries whilst EXP and worker turns).

Will get a picture up shortly.

Cheers. It is frustratingly difficult to dotmap all over IMO without being that lush.

Haha, sorry Jowy. My excitement leads to impatience at times. Why did you quit the game?

Civ news: Second city grew. Next settler out shortly. Should have 3 cities and 4 workers in 5 turns time.
