[Spoilers] Bobchillingworth is Tan, Rusted, and Ready

This is why I don't do CSI when I play.

Ughhhh does Dave really need someone to explain to him in the tech thread why it would be unfair for someone to lose event gold (or tile mushrooms or whatever) due to a mechanically unnecessary restart? I haven't even gotten an event yet and still fail to see how the issue in functionally penalizing a third party in-game to save Qg from having to occasionally rename some folders could be anything other than obvious. Very glad we're not actually restarting and this whole discussion is merely academic / pointless, I'd have probably lost my cool otherwise.

And now the turns of boredom set in; Scout died to the first animal he encountered (a Griffon, had slightly worse than 50% odds to win), so now I've got nothing to do for a while but move a worker every few turns.

Scout did manage to uncover what I'm guessing is some manner of hub:

Very rich land, like all the rest uncovered thus far. All that coast is going to make OO totally dominant this game, I suppose that's the one I want to adopt if I get around to researching Priesthood. Aggressive PZ coming off boats should be fairly strong as well, with the significant issue that I can't haste them, so they'd only be able to land + attack by having enough free exp to purchase a Mobility promotion. Falamar and Varn were likely strong picks for this game- the former was obvious from the starting screen cap, but I didn't expect Varn's WS to be quite as strong as I anticipate it'll be here.

One brightside- it's mostly coast and what look like fairly narrow seas, so Galleys (which get a major bonus now vs. Cultists) might actually be a workable counter.

First Worker is out, farming the rice. Plan is to partially complete a Warrior while growing to size 2, switch to a second Worker after the city grows, and then complete the Warrior, build a second, and then finally start work on a Settler after growing to size 4 or 5. Going to settle the Gold location first; tech plan is Calendar -> Myst (dual revolt into Agrarianism / Godking) -> Crafting -> Mining. First expansion will work FP farms to grow while waiting for Mining to come in.

It must be nice to be one of the players who didn't lose their scout to the first barbarian animal to spawn Allears

Decided not to go w/ a second Worker, as my first was building improvements quickly enough on his own. Grew to size 5, built two more Warriors (so I have three now), starting work on a Settler now. Turns literally take two seconds to play.

Main worry is that two Warriors won't be enough of an escort for the Settler, I've seen a different Gryphon from the one that ate my Scout circling around my borders recently. I'll have to employ Settler scouting before moving out, but that won't help locate a barb stationed on an ocean or coastal tile.

The lurker thread has been dormant since Sept, so idk if anyone is even following the game, but I figure I should do a really quick update:

Here's my civ-

Just finished Mining a turn early thanks to an Great Prophet event (lacked enough gold for the real prize, sadly). I've gotten two other semi-significant events before that- a different constellation awarded me around 20 beakers for Myst, and I got a PZ for the cost of a universal -1 health penalty by selecting a Sheaim-exclusive option for an event which otherwise just gives you the malus unless you're sitting on a small pile of gold.

Capital will complete the Elder Council, build a Warrior, and then a Settler. I have four Workers currently, all of whom are going to be building mines for a while, followed by cottages. The city directly west of my capital will complete its EC as well, then run a Sage from now until forever.

Not much else to report. No contacts yet, haven't been doing any scouting (Gryphons still patrol my borders, plus I already know where I want to settle for the next five or six cities). The game moves at a reasonable pace, given how many players are involved. I changed my theme to the Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service, a wonderful manga a friend introduced me to a year ago.

Happy to answer any questions.

Well I'm here globally lurking, so it is nice to see an update.  There just hasn't been a lot to talk about just yet, and not many players have been updating that often.

That's a real good one!

The lurker thread's been quiet because there's not a whole lot to say so far... a big game means that the early turns will just be mostly rexxing. smile
