Liberty makes cities 2-4 useful so much faster. They get founded 35 settler-hammers sooner, plus Republic, that adds up to more than a unit from each of them in the timespan before you got attacked.

It may be a little while yet though. From the organizing thread, it seems Yuris doesn't want me to surrender, I privately messaged him explaining the hopelessness of my situation in more detail, and he came back with this: yuris125 Wrote:I'll be honest - the possibility Ichabod may not go for a kill is the main reason why I would prefer if you stayed in the game I have a lot of respect for Yuris, and I get his perspective on wanting me to blue shell Ichabod endlessly so as not to lessen his chances of winning. However, I don't think he really appreciates how little I can do at this point. I can marshal 6 hammers per turn out of Malbec, enough for an archer every 5. There is no way I am going to be able to threaten Ichabod with that. I am going out of town this weekend, leaving in a few hours. So additionally, if I keep playing, the game will be delayed for a couple days. I would like to play my turn and surrender sometime before I head out. However, I don't want to do so if Yuris is not on board (I take it nobody else cares given the lack of responses). With that said, Chumchu or T-Hawk, someone who Yuris will trust more of having an objective opinion. Can you post in his thread and say that you too agree that there is little more I can do this game and this is a clear moment where things should be handed over to an AI?
I agree with your assessment. If you had gotten a settler out for an island then you might have a chance but now I suspect that he will just raze Malbec asap and you do not really need to be there for that. The only thing that differs in turning your civ over to the AI is that Ichabod will likely be able to snag your workers. If you delete them then Yuris should have no reason for concern.

Was already planning on doing so. Opening the save also revealed Ichabod coming for Malbec. So, did everything I said I would except make peace with KL (forgot), sent the turn to HAK, and surrendered. If Yuri gets upset in his thread, please explain that Ichabod was coming for my final city. I'll try to read up on all the threads over the weekend and give you some feedback next week Chumchu!
