Unfortunately Poly's search function isn't cooperating and I can't find the original thread (it was circa 2009 iirc).

Sounds like a fun way to win a PBEM.

Titillating as this gossip may be, I'm not sure I understand the purpose of this thread. Community forums wax and wane over time, with a lot of the Civilization community migrating in recent years to Reddit Civ and the official 2K forums. There's nothing unusual about that, and any long-running series of games has seen the like. I also don't see why we would be celebrating the lack of recent traffic at Apolyton, We Play Civ, and CivPlayers. This isn't a competition between fan sites, and it's not a good thing to see other Civilization fan communities dwindling away. At the very least, I don't think we should be chortling at their internal issues when we've had plenty of disagreements of our own.
I'll keep the thread open for now, but I'm leaning towards locking it unless there's something of merit to discuss here.
This was ment as a "goodbye" thread to those websites. If you read the thread people are just reacting to the sheer weirdness of Pandas--not attacking other websites. Having said that if no-one wants to say "goodbye", and just wants to spam about Panda-drama, then this thread doesn't need to stay open.
I'd give it 24 more hours in case someone else has something nice to say.
I thought you meant actually dead as in down or taken offline, not just dead as in no-one goes there. So yeah, I agree that this thread is a bit random.
That's been the case for a while, and I'll always be a little bit sad about Apolyton - it was my first internet home way back in 2000, at the age of 15. But I've not been active there for more than 10 years, and there really isn't much there anymore. When I type apolyton.net or apolyton.com in my address bar I get nothing.
Me too, but the forums still exist.
