Are they undead?

Air elementals aren't so bad... anything with a magical thrown or a breath attack will thrash them. Pretty easy to nuke down too, if you have that. I'd rather see them in a node than Storm Giants, that's for sure.

huh? that has nothing to do with it running around in circles using the new invisible unit stalling ai tactic. You might never even be able to see it. That said you're right, maybe without stall tactics they're too weak? if they rush at you they die quickly.

Air Elementals move 5 so they already used stalling tactic based on being faster. It shouldn't be significantly different....or maybe it is. Having ranged units in the army will no longer prevent it - however those are usually killed by the air elementals anyway.
A large enough army should be able to corner them, but the best tactic is to let them attack you and only kill the non-Air Elemental units after they are gone. As long as you don't use too much military power to trigger the stall even if those units are still alive, you're good.

The ranged unit died, but in doing so it would always reveal the air elementals position so your melee units could attack it back.

It makes basically no sense for an invisible node defender to stall. If they didn't want to fight why are they even there? they're invisible they don't have to fight unless they want to. Needing a sacrifical ranged unit to draw them in is a lot easier than needing an illusion immune unit.

That said by the time you can handle a node with storm giants and sky drakes you can probably work around problematic hidden air elementals.

Oh, I see, you're talking about a Node containing only Air Elementals and nothing else, and then the Air Elementals run away from you? I haven't encountered a node like that, but it certainly does sound like an obnoxious pain. It shouldn't be completely insurmountable though... at the very least, you should be able to pick them off, one at time, with enough repeated battles.

It happens if you bring too much force. The solution is simple, bring less or weaker troops and they'll attack. Best to use disposable units with magical weapons like a few halberdiers+direct damage. As long as you don't over-win and maintain an army strength ratio below 2/1 in your favor, the elementals will stay aggressive.

well no there's no node exactly like that. but there is one with like 2 air elementals and 2phantom beasts and like 2nagas and 3or4 phantom warriors or so? A weak node where you can easily kill everything but fail to find the air elementals within 25turns. I think there's also a node with like 3air elementals and 1 storm giant and a few phantom warriors? but you're right storm giants are so much stronger than air elementals for that node layout maybe i'm worried about nothing.

Seravy has a point though, just don't bring overwhelming force. Good point.
